Borussia Dortmund vs Ulsan HD Prediction: Black and Yellows to get the job done

Borussia Dortmund cannot afford any slip ups in their final group match at the Fifa Club World Cup against Ulsan HD on Wednesday (20:00 BST, DAZN/5Action) if they wish to reach the knockout stage. There is one point separating first and third in Group F heading into the final matchday.
Ulsan know that they are going home after losing their first two fixtures, so the onus will be on the Bundesliga side at the TQL Stadium in Ohio. Read on for my Borussia Dortmund vs Ulsan HD predictions, accompanied by the latest team news and match odds.

Team News
Dortmund boss Niko Kovac is still short in midfield and defensive areas. Emre Can and Nico Schlotterbeck remain sidelined through injury, so expect a back three of Niklas Sule, Waldemar Anton and Ramy Bensebaini.
Pascal Gross and Felix Nmecha were stationed in deeper midfield positions in the 4-3 thriller against Mamelodi Sundowns, and this partnership may continue on Wednesday.
Summer acquisition Jobe Bellingham should have gained a lot of confidence from his first goal for the Black and Yellows last time out, and he may be given the freedom in the attacking role behind prolific front man Serhou Guirassy.
Jamie Gittens has been limited to just 13 minutes of action at the tournament so far, which is likely linked to the player wanting to move to Chelsea this summer, while the two clubs remain locked in talks over a deal.
Borussia Dortmund vs Ulsan HD Stats
- Both teams have scored in eight of Dortmund's last 10 victories
- Serhou Guirassy (DOR) has scored 35 goals in all competitions this season
Um Won-Sang and Erick Farias started in attack for Ulsan against Fluminense last time out, but since Um was substituted due to injury, Matias Lacava may be drafted into the side to take his place.
The South Korean outfit are set to name a midfield three once again, likely featuring Ko Seung-beom, Darijan Bojanic and Lee Jin-hyun.
Central defenders Milosz Trojak, Kim Young-Gwon and Jung Woo-Young are all going to be in contention to feature in this clash.
Borussia Dortmund vs Ulsan HD Odds
Dortmund are the favourites to come out on top here at 1/4, but you'd find better value in adding both teams to score to the selection for an 8/5 price (which has an implied probability of 38.5%). Eight of the German side's last 10 victories have seen both teams get on the scoresheet.
BTTS on its own is available at 10/11.
The Black and Yellows drew their opening match against Fluminense and the stalemate is marketed at 11/2.
Ulsan have lost their two matches at the CWC and they are 12/1 to stun Dortmund in Ohio.
Borussia Dortmund and both teams to score @ 8/5
Dortmund probably thought that they would have qualified before matchday three but their fate is in their hands. They know that if they win they progress to the knockout stage, and top spot is still up for grabs if results go in their favour.
Ulsan have been disappointing in the USA so far and now that they know that their Club World Cup journey is at an end, the last thing they probably want is to play in a match that has nothing riding on it from their perspective.
Dortmund showed their attacking quality to record four goals in the last match but the fact that they conceded three themselves shows that there are still some huge concerns regarding their defence.
For that reason, I think backing them to win and both teams to score is a smart selection for this contest. There have been goals at both ends in eight of the Black and Yellows' past 10 victories in all competitions, and I think this trend will continue against Ulsan.

Serhou Guirassy first goalscorer @ 5/2
Guirassy has had a fantastic debut season for Dortmund, with the former VfB Stuttgart striker bagging 35 goals in 47 matches across all competitions. The Guinea international opened his CWC account last time out, which is probably not a good thing for Ulsan given how well he has performed throughout the campaign.
He has proven to be an excellent piece of business for the Black and Yellows and I would say he has been one of the best strikers across Europe in 2024/25.
With Ulsan having nothing to play for here, Guirassy may sense an opportunity to improve his goal tally as there will be a Golden Boot award on offer at the end of the tournament, and he has the quality to take that accolade for himself.
Guirassy leads from the front and for that reason, I'm backing him to open the scoring.
