Nottinghamshire Outlaws vs Derbyshire Falcons Prediction: Winless start to continue

Derbyshire have yet to win despite playing five matches in the T20 Blast this season and they face another tough challenge when they take on Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge on Friday.

The Outlaws are looking to get back on track themselves after losing their last two matches but they have a good chance of securing their third win of the season and their second success against the Falcons. Read on for my Nottinghamshire Outlaws vs Derbyshire Falcons predictions.

Freddie McCann will be hopeful of staying in the Outlaws' line-up after the young batter steadied the ship by hitting 31 from 18 balls against Yorkshire, having replaced Moises Henriques in the side.

Derbyshire captain Samit Patel was back in action against Durham after missing their previous match against the Birmingham Bears but it would be no surprise if the visitors decide to shake things up as they search for their first success of the season.

Notts are strong favourites for this home match at 8/15 while Derbyshire are 6/4 underdogs for their first Blast win of the campaign.

Captain Joe Clarke is the 5/2 favourite to be top batter for the Outlaws, while Caleb Jewell is the 3/1 favourite to score the most runs for the Falcons.

Jack Haynes top Nottinghamshire batter @ 4/1

Jack Haynes got off to a fantastic start in the T20 Blast this season with a thrilling knock of 89 not out as the Outlaws successfully chased down a target of 227 with five balls to spare in a high-scoring clash with the Birmingham Bears at Trent Bridge.

The 24-year-old followed that knock with scores of 23, 43 and 19 in his next three outings, with the middle innings making him his team's joint-top scorer in their first meeting with Derbyshire.

Haynes' only failure in the competition this season came in Wednesday's home defeat to Yorkshire, when his first-ball duck left his team in a hole at 4-2 after the first over, but that looks likely to be an outlier and he should relish facing the Derbyshire attack again.

Skipper Joe Clarke notched his second half-century of the campaign in that match, but he managed only one run in the game against the Falcons at Derby and Haynes looks a better value pick.

Dillon Pennington top Nottinghamshire bowler @ 11/4

Quick bowler Dillon Pennington has been Mr Consistency for Nottinghamshire in the T20 Blast to date, taking at least one wicket on each of his five appearances.

With nine wickets he was joint-sixth in the competition's top bowler list before Thursday's matches and he is two ahead of slow left-armer Liam Patterson-White as his team's most successful bowler.

Pennington's best performance so far came in the first match against Friday's opponents as he claimed 3-40 in the rain-affected contest against the Falcons, removing dangerous opener Caleb Jewell with his first delivery of the game. He returned at the death to add Brooke Guest and Ben Aitchison to his list of victims in the final over.

Pennington was also his team's top wicket-taker with two of the five to fall against Worcestershire and shared the honours despite bowling only three overs against Yorkshire last time out, bagging the valuable wicket of Adam Lyth.
