Hamilton park racecourse

One of five meetings taking place across Britain and Ireland on Wednesday, Hamilton stages a six-race evening card which gets underway at 18:30 with an Amateur Jockeys' Handicap over six furlongs.

There are a couple of interesting maidens on the card, while the action concludes at 21:00 with a competitive handicap over a mile. The ground is officially described as good and it may dry out further with warm weather forecast. Below are my three best bets from the Scottish venue. Read on for my Hamilton Park tips.

Hamilton Park Tips - Wednesday, June 11

  • 20:00 - Parisiac @ 7/4
  • 20:30 - Moyola @ 8/1
  • 21:00 - French Haven @ 5/2

20:00 - Parisiac @ 7/4

This handicap over a sharp five furlongs could revolve around PARISIAC, who is 3Ib lower than when runner-up to Hurt You Never over course and distance six days ago.

Iain Jardine’s charge had to shoulder a 5Ib penalty on that latest start, having won over this track and trip only eight days earlier, and that means he should be well in at the weights as long as the quick turnaround doesn’t hinder him.

This six-year-old has the talented Mohammed Tabti taking another 5Ib off his back and, having once won off a mark of 85, it would be disappointing if he could not seize this golden opportunity.

There doesn’t seem to be much pace in this seven-runner contest and Parisiac, who likes to be ridden close to the leaders, should be in pole position to strike.

20:00 Hamilton - Winner Parisiac

20:30 - Moyola @ 8/1

There look to be a few who like to force the pace in this six-furlong handicap and that could play to the strengths of the fast-finishing MOYOLA, who was a course and distance winner off a 7Ib higher mark this time last year.

Moyola was strongly supported in the betting when beaten just over five lengths over this course and distance six days ago and he is due to be dropped 3Ib for that disappointing run in the near future.

However, he was asked to challenge on the wrong part of the track that day and Warren Fentiman’s 5Ib claim helps to compensate for his future drop in the weights.

Lucinda Russell’s charge remains well-handicapped on his past form and, still only a four-year-old, there could still be improvement to come at a venue he clearly likes.

20:30 Hamilton - Winner Moyola

Odds correct at time of publishing.

21:00 - French Haven @ 5/2

A three-year-old has won this race in two of the last three years and it could be worth siding with the lightly raced FRENCH HAVEN enhancing that record for the Charlie Johnston team.

Having won over this trip off 2Ib lower at Newmarket in the middle of May, French Haven was only narrowly touched off at Nottingham 10 days ago when finishing with impressive speed up the centre of the track.

The three-year-old filly appears to be starting to get her act together and, having had only seven career starts, is open to any amount of improvement. She races off the same mark as when runner-up last time out and is versatile in terms of the way she can be ridden which is another string to her bow.

21:00 Hamilton - Winner French Haven
