York racecourse 3

The Dante Festival comes to a conclusion at York on Friday, after a seven-race card featuring the Yorkshire Cup.

I've studied the offering and landed on three York Dante Festival Day 3 tips - including a 6/5 Nap in the penultimate race.

York Dante Festival Day 3 Tips

  • 14:10 - Eternal Solace each-way @ 13/2
  • 15:13 - Consecrated @ 4/1
  • 16:55 - Bowmark @ 11/10

14:10 - Eternal Solace each-way @ 13/2

Ollie Sangster excels with juveniles and ETERNAL SOLACE could be another useful one for the Wiltshire handler.

The daughter of Tasleet, winner of the G2 Duke Of York Clipper Stakes on the Knavesmire back in 2017, made a stylish debut at Brighton just over a fortnight ago, beating a 4/9 favourite by three comfortable lengths.

I was impressed. Despite showing signs of inexperience early on, she was always in touch before scooting into the lead on approach to the furlong pole, showing a smart turn of foot to leave a race-fit rival with fancy entries in her wake.

That form is already competitive with that of her eight rivals in the Marygate Fillies' Stakes - a Listed event over the minimum trip of five furlongs - and I think there's any amount of improvement to come.

At current prices, I think she's an excellent each-way bet in the opener on Day 3 of the Dante Festival.

15:13 - Consecrated @ 4/1

Just over an hour later is another Listed fillies' event - this time for three-year-olds, over a mile.

There's some highly-promising types in this 10-strong field, none more so than CONSECRATED in my humble opinion.

The William Haggas-trained, Cheveley Park-owned daughter of Frankel is a half-sister to Group 2-winning stablemate Sacred who made a serious impression on her debut at Newbury last month.

She bounced out in front under Cieren Fallon and never saw another rival, making all to win by three lengths. Victory wasn't in doubt for a single second.

The form looks strong, too. The runner-up finished a close third behind Godolphin's unbeaten Victory Queen and Gulya, who opposes the selection on Friday, since - while the third and fourth both obliged on their subsequent starts.

It's fair to say she fits firmly under the 'could be anything bracket' and, with Tom Marquand taking over in the saddle, she can take this and earn a shot at the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot next month.

16:55 - Bowmark @ 11/10

Last but not least, I'm backing BOWMARK in the penultimate race of the afternoon.

I'm pleasantly surprised that John & Thady Gosden's three-year-old has opened a bigger price than William Haggas' Crown Of Oaks for this mile-long Class 2 novice. I think he should be odds-on.

The Kingman colt has already earned a mark of 103 after just a couple of runs - an authoritative victory on debut at Kempton in December before finishing runner-up by just a neck to the 104-rated Glittering Legend, who had fitness on his side, in a Listed event at Newcastle just under a month ago.

Bowmark carries a six-pound penalty as a result of that Kempton success, which is of course factored into Crown Of Oaks' price, but his form if at least a stone better at this stage and he's just as exposed and therefore entitled to improvement.

In addition to all of that, the Betfred 2000 & 1000 Guineas-winning jockey William Buick is doing the steering this time. The duo ought to prove hard to beat.
