Verona vs como predictions betting tips serie a sunday may 18 2025

A 1-1 draw at home to fellow strugglers Lecce last weekend extended Hellas Verona's winless run to seven games, and Paolo Zanetti's side are still not safe from relegation, although they can confirm a seventh successive season in Serie A by beating mid-table Como at the Stadio Marc'Antonio Bentegodi on Sunday (19:45).

Below are my Verona vs Como predictions, complete with all the latest team news and match odds ahead of both clubs' penultimate fixture of the campaign.

Verona vs Como Betting Tips

  • To Win to Nil - Como @ 5/2
  • Anytime Goalscorer - Gabriel Strefezza (COM) @ 3/1

Team News

Slovakian duo Ondrej Duda and Tomas Suslov are both suspended for Verona on Sunday due to an accumulation of yellow cards, so Zanetti must make at least two changes to his starting XI.

Suat Serdar and Antoine Bernede are the most likely replacements for Duda and Suslov.

Football Odds

Zanetti will also be without Pawel Dawidowicz (muscle) and Abdou Harroui (knee) again.

Verona vs Como Stats

  • Como have won their last six games, keeping four clean sheets
  • Verona are winless in their last seven matches (D4, L3), failing to score in five
  • Gabriel Strefezza (COM) has struck in his last three appearances

Como are missing Sergi Roberto (thigh), Alberto Dossena (knee) and Assane Diao (foot) due to injury, while head coach Cesc Fabregas may be tempted to name an unchanged starting XI following last Saturday's 3-1 success against Cagliari.

Pepe Reina made his first appearance of the calendar year in that victory, and the 42-year-old will be hoping to make back-to-back starts this weekend.

Verona vs Como Odds

Como won the reverse fixture 3-2 in September, and Fabregas' side (23/20) are fancied to do the double over Verona, who are 5/2, or a 28.6% chance, to claim a long-awaited victory and secure safety.

The draw is priced at 23/10, both teams to score at 4/5, and over 2.5 total goals at 11/10.

To Win to Nil - Como @ 5/2

Granted, Como have little to play for as they cannot improve on their current position (10th), although they could drop to 12th by the end of the season depending on other results, while Verona can secure safety with a win on Sunday.

However, given the respective form of both sides, I'm finding it difficult to tip anything other than an away victory here, and a convincing one at that.

Como are the most in-form team in Europe since the start of April, winning all six games, scoring 12 goals and conceding just twice. They've kept four clean sheets in that run, including in their last two away matches - both against two of the five teams lower in the table than Verona, Parma (0-1) and Lecce (0-3).

Verona, meanwhile, haven't won a game since March 15, drawing four and losing three of their seven since, and they've blanked in five of those fixtures.

They've struggled for goals all season, in truth, with only the bottom four clubs scoring fewer than their tally of 31.

I Gialloblu have been particularly poor in attack at home this calendar year, failing to score in six of their nine matches there in 2025. They did grab a goal last time out at the Marc'Antonio Bentegodi, but that was their first since March 9, and against a bottom-three side in Lecce.

Como are playing with such confidence at the moment, in stark contrast to their upcoming opponents, so 5/2 for Fabregas' charges to win to nil looks appealing here.

Anytime Goalscorer - Gabriel Strefezza (COM) @ 3/1

Gabriel Strefezza only scored three times in his first 32 Serie A appearances this season, but the Como winger has doubled his tally in the last three games, netting in wins against Genoa (1-0), Parma (0-1) and Cagliari (3-1).

The 28-year-old has really stepped up in the absence of Diao, who bagged a brace in his last match before succumbing to injury and had three goals in his last three outings.

Strefezza didn't even start Como's last away game, only coming on in the 74th minute, but he scored within five minutes of his introduction.

At 3/1, the Brazilian is just too big a price to turn down in the anytime goalscorer market on Sunday, in my opinion.
