Getafe vs Athletic Club Prediction: More misery for the hosts

Athletic Club will look to strengthen their Uefa Champions League credentials when they travel to Coliseum to face Getafe in La Liga on Thursday (20:30, Premier Sports 2). Bilbao are six points clear inside the top five heading into this clash after beating Alaves at home on Sunday.
Getafe have lost five games in a row which is not for good reading when they are just five points above the relegation zone with three games left to play. Below you will find my Getafe vs Athletic Club predictions, supported by the latest team news and match odds.

Team News
Getafe will have to assess the fitness of Real Betis loanee Juanmi, who has missed the past two matches due to injury.
Mauro Arambarri and Christantus Uche are back in contention following their respective suspensions, giving boss Jose Bordalas more options to choose from as the hosts look to arrest their form.
However, captain Djene will serve the second of a three-match ban, while Juan Berrocal is suspended for an accumulation of yellow cards, giving Bordalas further squad headaches at such a crunch stage of the campaign.
Getafe vs Athletic Club Stats
- Bilbao have won three of their last five games in La Liga
- Getafe have failed to score in their past two matches
- The visitors have posted three consecutive clean sheets in the league
Athletic Club will need to assess star attackers Nico Williams and Inaki Williams, who are struggling with groin and hamstring injuries respectively.
Benat Prados is also unlikely to feature in Thursday's contest after missing the win over Alaves with an injury he sustained in last week's meeting with Manchester United in the Uefa Europa League.
Defender Andoni Gorosabel and attacker Alex Berenguer are available for selection after serving one-match bans for an accumulation of yellow cards, which will come as a big double boost for Bilbao manager Ernesto Valverde.
Getafe are without a win in their last five matches in the league but they are 23/10 to come away with the three points on Thursday.
Bilbao have drawn two of their past three away trips in La Liga and the stalemate is available at 7/4. The visitors are 8/5 (which has an implied probability of 38.5%) to grab the victory, which they have managed in three of their previous five contests in the top flight.
At least one team has failed to score in seven of Athletic Club's last eight outings in the league and BTTS - No is marketed at 4/6.
Athletic Club to win @ 8/5
Bilbao have enjoyed a strong campaign in La Liga and Champions League qualification is edging closer. The Zuri-Gorriak may have seen their Europa League dream fade in the semi-finals but they have given their supporters a memorable year and I think they can finish it strongly.
They have won three of their last five games in the top flight and while they were on home turf, they have a lot more momentum than their hosts, who are having to tread carefully as they sit five points above the drop zone as things stand.
Geta have lost five fixtures in a row which is the joint-worst form in the division right now, alongside already-relegated Real Valladolid. Confidence is on the floor amongst the Azulones squad and I think this will be a free hit for Bilbao, who could seal their place in Europe's most prestigious competition with three points here.

Clean sheet - Athletic Club @ 13/10
I think there is also value to be had in backing the visitors to record a shutout. They haven't conceded a goal in their past three appearances in La Liga, while they have kept their opponents at bay in six of their previous contests in the top flight.
Getafe's five-game losing streak has been amplified by the fact that they have failed to get on the scoresheet in their past four matches. The attackers are struggling the most right now, and it is hard to see them getting out of this rut against the team with the best defensive record in the division (25 goals conceded in 35 games).
