Lucky 15 Tips: Glamour can show what she’s made of at Kempton

We are spoilt for choice on Bank Holiday Monday, as there are no fewer than seven meetings taking place across Britain and Ireland during the course of the afternoon. Ireland provides Group race action at the Curragh, as well as National Hunt card from Down Royal, whilst Britain’s action comes from Kempton, Warwick, Bath, Beverley and Windsor.
I've picked out four strong fancies across the racing in Britain on Monday, and these include a last time out winner for Eve Johnson Houghton at Kempton. These can be combined to form a Lucky 15, and they’re all entitled to run big races. Read on for my Lucky 15 Tips for Monday, May 5.
Lucky 15 Tips - Monday, May 5
15:10 Kempton - Glamour Show @ 5/1
GLAMOUR SHOW only failed to make the frame in one of her six starts last season, and that was her debut. She was half a length away from getting off the mark in a Newbury novice after that, eventually going on to finish second.
Beaten the same distance when second over course and distance on her final start at two, it was obvious that she would be getting off the mark sooner or later. That first success came here on seasonal debut back in March, where she made all the running.
The daughter of Showcasing was always in command and went on to score by an impressive margin of three-and-a-half lengths. Making her first start in handicap company here, further improvement can’t be ruled out, and she should be bang in the mix.
15:45 Kempton - Dancingwithmyself @ 5/1
Michael Bell’s runner DANCINGWITHMYSELF has won three of her nine starts to date, and that includes a dominant success over this trip at Ripon in August, off a 7lb lower mark. She was slowly away yet so in control that Callum Rodriguez eased her down before the line.
Her second in a Class 2 at Ripon on seasonal debut appears to be a fair piece of form, and surely she should be going close now up against her fellow fillies and mares and down a couple of grades.
The handicapper responded with a 2lb rise for that performance, which seems fair given she was only beaten by a head and was gaining on the leader with every stride. She has won on the all-weather before, too, so the switch to an artificial surface shouldn’t be a bother either.
16:15 Windsor - Distant Rumble @ 13/2
Previous track form often comes in handy at Windsor, and last-time-out course and distance winner DISTANT RUMBLE could have an advantage with that in mind.
A gelding operation has clearly done him the world of good, as he’s won twice in four starts since the turn of the year. The first of those came at Kempton in January, and he was well on top at the finish when scoring by a little over a length.
Going in again here last time out, he was a comfortable winner yet again, and the ground conditions look set to be similar this time around. Connections clearly aren’t concerned about a 6lb penalty, so another big run could be on the cards.
16:35 Bath - Commanding Prince @ 1/3
Archie Watson runs handicap debutant COMMANDING PRINCE, and the thrice-raced gelding has been victorious in both of his last two starts.
Second on debut at Southwell in February, he showed signs of greenness at a key stage and was only just collared in the final strides. He was much more professional at Newcastle after that and ended up winning with ease over a mile.
The son of Too Darn Hot was equally as impressive when scoring by the same margin under a penalty at the same track next time, and he’s clearly going the right way. An opening mark of 82 could prove to be a little generous, and he’s expected to go close once again.
