Easter Monday's (20:00, Sky Sports Main Event) Premier League offering comes from north London as Tottenham Hotspur host Nottingham Forest. Spurs' league campaign has been a disaster but their saving grace would be some silverware as they progressed to the semi-finals of the Uefa Europa League on Thursday.

Forest have lost momentum in the race for the Champions League places in the top flight with two defeats on the spin - so they really need a positive result from this game. Read on for my football bet of the day, which is an 18/1 Bet Builder.

Football Bet of the Day - Monday, April 21

  • Bet Builder - Nottingham Forest to win, Over 2.5 Goals & Anthony Elanga to score first @ 18/1

Two defeats in a row have put pressure on Forest, who for a long time had been comfortable inside the top five of the Premier League. A loss to a chasing rival Aston Villa a few weeks ago has hurt them further, with the Villans dispatching another Champions League chaser, Newcastle United, 4-1 on Saturday.

Villa are now level on 57 points with Forest, and they travel to face - you guessed it another European rival in Manchester City on Tuesday - so the Tricky Trees really need to make their trip to Tottenham count. This is no time for them to fall apart.

Tottenham have nothing to gain in the final weeks of the Premier League campaign, they are only playing for pride now. You'd think that all their focus will be on the Europa League now as they prepare to face Bodo/Glimt in the semi-finals next month.

Football Odds

The next couple of domestic fixtures will serve as fruitful exercises in the preparation for those crunch European clashes, but boss Ange Postecoglou may also want to avoid any injuries to key personnel.

Spurs will look to give a good showing against Forest, a team who are placed exactly where they would have wanted to be at this stage of the season. Tottenham are in no threat of going down, while it would take a lot of things to go in their favour, including a flawless end to the term, for them to salvage Europe next year by conventional means.

Football Bet of the Day Stats

  • Forest have won 13 of their 15 PL matches against teams in the bottom half
  • Over 2.5 goals has struck in Forest's past six league away trips
  • Anthony Elanga has scored first on three occasions in the PL this season (incl against Spurs)

The onus is on Forest here, who have much to gain from taking three points away from N17. They cannot afford their losing streak to continue and they will be wary of the momentum being built by Villa, who are kept at bay by goal difference only as things stand.

Nuno Espiroto Santo and his players should be fired up for this contest because of how well they have fared against teams in the bottom half of the table (13 wins from 15 matches), as well as the fact that Spurs have struggled for consistency throughout the campaign.

In a game in which they need to stand up and deliver, I think Forest will have enough to grab the win.

The next leg of the Bet Builder is over 2.5 goals. I like the look of this selection because it has featured in 66% (21/32) of Spurs' home league games this season, including 12 of their 16 clashes on home soil.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Nottingham Forest Odds

Spurs have seen three or more goals scored in their past two Premier League appearances in N17, which should bode well for their clash with high-flying Forest.

For the visitors, over 2.5 goals has been a successful bet in each of their previous six away trips in the top flight.

This 18/1 punt is rounded off with Anthony Elanga as the game's first goalscorer. The Forest wide man has had an impressive campaign in the Premier League, with six goals and eight assists.

His pace is a huge weapon for the Tricky Trees, and often leads to so many chances because defenders have a tough time keeping up with him. Tottenham's high line can lead to the Swede gaining plenty of one-one-one situations on Monday.

Elanga has three goals in his past four league matches, and he broke the deadlock on both occasions. He has done this three times overall this term, with the other being against Spurs in the reverse fixture at the City Ground back in December.
