Beverley Tips: Hiya Maite get the job done on Wednesday

Beverley hosts a bumper eight-race card, running from 13:40-17:37, on Wednesday and conditions are forecast to be on the good side.
I've come up with some Beverley Tips for the first day of a new term in the East Riding of Yorkshire.
Beverley Tips - Wednesday, April 16

14:50 - Hiya Maite @ 5/2
Trainer Roy Browning will be hoping that race fitness can be a key pointer in Division 2 of this Beverley Beaker Handicap over the minimum five-furlongs as he saddles top-weight HIYA MAITE.
The seven-year-old was quite consistent in turf races last year, including a Class 3 win at Doncaster (5f, good) in June off a mark of 86.
He came up shy in the Portland back on Town Moor in September and his subsequent Nottingham run on heavy ground should be overlooked.
It's been a decent start to 2025 on the all-weather, with four solid runs, the latest when denied by a neck at Southwell at the start of March.
He's rated 3lb lower back on the grass here and he has a key fitness advantage on plenty of his rivals, which could be telling.

15:25 - Al Khawssaa @ 11/4
Roger Varian's AL KHAWSSAA has lots of potential heading into her seasonal bow in the Easter Fillies' Novice Stakes over an extended-mile.
The Night Of Thunder filly was third at Kempton on debut over 7f in August and opened her account at Southwell over the same trip at the start of September.
She still very much looked like a work in progress in that victory, ungainly in getting to the lead and then hanging slightly once in front.
She did it well, despite that, and the form has been advertised by the runner-up placing in Listed company since.
She has to give weight to these three-year-old rivals but Zacharia Clarke claims a handy 7lb in the saddle and with the Varian in team in red-hot form, she is fancied to make a winning return.

17:07 - Moby Quick @ 7/2
MOBY QUICK was an eyecatcher at Southwell on the all-weather 11 days ago and George Scott's son of Al Kazeem could be ready to shed the maiden tag here.
He'd run well under Darragh Keenan at Newcastle last month on his return from a short break in maiden company and built on that on his first foray into a handicap.
It was just the fifth start of his career and he was slowly away under claimer Liam Wright. They were last of 11 swinging for home but stayed on out wide to be a length-and-a-half back in fourth spot.
From the same mark, the three-year-old will have a leading claim if getting away on terms and building on that handicap debut.
This is an Extra Place Race, meaning that Betfred will be paying 4 Places (1/5 Odds) instead of 3. T&Cs Apply.
