Football Bet of the Day: Friday night football comes from League 2

We’ve got some Championship coming our way on Friday night, but given it’s Burnley in action at Turf Moor, we already know how that ends - and there isn’t much value in backing them to keep another clean sheet.
So instead, we are dropping down to the fourth tier to find some Friday night value. Check out my Football Bet of the Day down below.
Football Bet of the Day - Friday, April 11
- Price Boost: Notts County to win, Alassana Jatta to score and David McGoldrick to score @ 13/2
Odds correct at the time of publishing
Notts County will continue their push to get out of League 2 on Friday as they welcome Salford City to Meadow Lane. They are currently four points between themselves in sixth the automatic spots, but they will also be looking over their shoulders as Colchester United are just four points behind them and will hope to knock them out of the top seven.
It’s a thrilling end to the season in the fourth tier, with Bradford City, Port Vale and Walsall separated by just one point at the top. I think Notts County should be considered key contenders in this promotion race, having looked upwardly mobile over the last few years.
But let’s move on to their home clash against Salford, which kicks off at 19:45 on Sky Sports+. County lost 1-0 to Colchester last time out to bring the U’s back into the play-off picture, but prior to that they had won two in a row without conceding. Salford are unbeaten in their last four away games and do pose a threat in this one, but I just feel that County’s attacking strength will be enough for them to come out on top.
Playing before their rivals, the hosts could seriously put the pressure on ahead of the weekend. Stuart Maynard likes to deploy a 3-5-2 system, and relies on his two talented attackers to find the goals. Luckily for us, both of these strikers have been included in the Price Boost Betfred have picked out, and so I’m going to back it for our Football Bet of the Day.
Notts County vs Salford Stats
- Alessana Jatta has scored 17 goals this season
- David McGoldrick has scored 15 goals by comparison
- Notts County have won 10 of their 20 home matches
The first man up is Alassana Jatta. He joined from Viborg last winter and has been a hit this season, scoring 17 goals in 34 League 2 appearances. Only Michael Cheek of Bromley has more goal than him in the fourth tier (21), and so Jatta still has a chance of winning that coveted Golden Boot as we move into the final weeks of the season.
He should have more success against a Salford defence that has been fairly robust this term. This is by no means an easy task for the home side but they are the favourites here and could put in a big display to land all three points. The other man we are backing to score needs no introduction to fans of the EFL. David McGoldrick has consistently been one of the best goalscorers the pyramid has to offer, and now he finds himself back at his boyhood club.
This season he has delivered again, scoring 15 league goals, meaning County boast two of the four highest goalscorers in the fourth tier. Those goals may be enough to carry the Magpies to promotion, so let’s back him and Jatta to team up again and put Salford to the sword. At 13/2, that is my Football Bet of the Day for Friday, and I got through it without even mentioning the Class of 92…
