Horse Racing Tips: Ede’iffs ready to rock and roll at Taunton

We don’t have a great deal of quantity to look forward to with regards to the racing action, but the three meetings across Britain on Tuesday should provide some competitive entertainment.

Hexham kicks us off and Taunton follows soon after, with Newcastle’s eight-race all-weather fixture providing the evening entertainment. We have three strong fancies for our horse racing tips for Tuesday, and they include a Bill Turner-trained chaser at Taunton that could still be ahead of the handicapper.

16:05 Taunton - Ede’iffs Rock @ 2/1

Look out for Bill Turner’s mare EDE’IFFS ROCK here, as she has been in good form recently and further success could be on the cards. A winner over course and distance last time out, she could still be ahead of the handicapper for the time being.

She won nicely against her fellow mares last month and the handicapper has responded with a 5lb rise, which looks more than fair. The extra weight wouldn’t have stopped her that day and, if turning up in similar form here, it might not be enough to prevent the follow-up.

This daughter of Saddler’s Rock has taken well to fences on the whole and quickly recovered her confidence after falling on debut in this sphere at Plumpton in December. Turner’s representative then won by a narrow margin at Fakenham.

Unfortunate to bump into a well handicapped horse at Huntingdon after that, she ran a nice race to finish second nonetheless. The extended 2m3f trip was a little on the short side at Plumpton on her penultimate start but she was far from disgraced back in fourth.

Having won on good ground over hurdles back in November, the quicker ground shouldn’t be an issue and she’s likely to be right in the mix once again.

16:20 Hexham - Rock On Jet @ 9/2

A competitive race for the grade, the consistent ROCK ON JET gets the nod here and a return to winning ways shouldn’t be ruled out. George Bewley’s gelding finished third over fences last time out and the return to hurdles is a massive plus.

This thoroughly unexposed sort took a big step forward to win on handicap debut over hurdles two starts ago and he pulled nicely clear to score by a comfortable margin of six-and-a-half lengths that day.

The form has received a boost, with the second winning easily a couple of starts later, and there could be any amount of improvement still left in the tank. An 8lb rise isn’t outrageous and it’ll be a surprise if he’s not competitive off a mark of 113 here.

16:35 Taunton - Him Malaya @ 9/4

Paul Nicholls’ HIM MALAYA appeared to be fully out of confidence for a while, but he bounced back to his best with a good win in a better race over course and distance when last seen.

That two-length success came on good ground as well, so there should be no issues with the quick underfoot conditions here. The handicapper only put him up 4lb for that success and that rise is cancelled out by Jay Tidball’s 5lb claim.

His trainer tends to do well at Taunton and his strike-rate so far this season is a very healthy 26 per cent and that certainly bodes well for Him Malaya’s chances here.

The drop in class is noted and this looks like an excellent opportunity.
