Kim Muir Challenge Cup Odds: McManus looking to taste victory again

The final race on day three of the Cheltenham Festival is the Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Challenge Cup, often referred to as simply the Kim Muir Chase. This race is for amateur riders only and has featured various Grand National contenders over the years.
Gordon Elliott trained the 2016 and 2020 winners, while neither Willie Mullins and Paul Nicholls have won this race. Below you can find the Kim Muir Challenge Cup odds.
Kim Muir Challenge Cup Odds
*odds correct at the time of publishing
Johnnywho @ 5/1
Johnnywho is the favourite for the Kim Muir Challenge Cup at 5/1.
The eight-year-old, trained by Jonjo and AJ O'Neill and owned by JP McManus, has had four chase starts this season, which includes a third-place finish behind The Jukebox Man at Newbury in November.
He has yet to contest a handicap chase, but will do so from a mark of 140 here under Derek O’Connor. The McManus/O'Connor combination was a winning one in last year's race with Inothewayurthinkin.
Walking On Air @ 6/1
Next up is Walking On Air at 6s, who was running a huge race at Doncaster in January before unfortunately falling.
The eight-year-old has Gary Brown as a trainer, who's had two winners over the past 10 days, which bodes well coming into this race.
*Selected UK & Irish races. Free Bets, Antepost, Tote, Lucky 15/31/63 bets don’t apply. Eligible from 08:00 on day of race. Excludes Super Extra Place Races. T&Cs Apply.
Midnight Our Fred @ 7/1
JP Flavin's Midnight Our Fred is third in the betting at 7/1.
The eight-year-old has finished second at Cheltenham on three occasions, and he'll be hoping to go one better here.
Sa Majeste @ 8/1
Perhaps Mullins' best chance of winning this race will come in the form Sa Majeste who is 8/1 at the time of writing.
With two wins and a second-place finish in his last four outings, the eight-year-old could be a decent outside pick here or maybe an each-way chance.
*New customers only. Register (excl 05/04/25), deposit with Debit Card, and place first bet £10+ at Evens (2.0)+ on Sports within 7 days to get 3 x £10 in Sports Free Bets & 2 x £10 in Acca Free Bets within 10 hours of settlement. 7-day expiry. Eligibility exclusions & T&Cs Apply.
Mint Boy @ 11/1
Mint Boy, who will be saddled by Gavin Cromwell, has tasted victory twice in 12 runs over jumps, the most recent of those coming in January 2024 at Fairyhouse.
Two third-place finishes since at Galway and Punchestown, makes him an interesting each-way punt for Thursday's race but it would take a special run to finish above the likes of Johnnywho and Walking On Air.
Take on Fred every day of the Cheltenham Festival and you could pocket a share of £20,000 in CASH!
This is an Extra Place Race, meaning that Betfred will pay 5 Places (1/5 Odds) instead of 4.
