Unexpected Party @ 11/2
Dan Skelton's 10-year-old is looking to go back-to-back after winning this race last year. Since that victory he is winless, but has finished runner-up twice at both Carlisle and Windsor.
However, Skelton has great form for plotting his horses to hit form at exactly the right time for the handicap races and even though he is 6lb higher than last year, he still should have a really good chance.
My Mate Mozzie @ 13/2
Another who loves a handicap, Gavin Cromwell will have targeted this race as a great opportunity for My Mate Mozzie who will get shorter as the ground gets firmer. The nine-year-old won here in 2023 and competed well when finishing sixth in last year's Arkle.
This race should be more to his suiting and with Keith Donoghue on board, we may well see a late charge from Mozzie to steal the prizes.
The King Of Prs @ 7/1
Another Cromwell runner, this seven-year-old fell at the last in this race last year but never really travelled well.
However, he has shown some promising form of late, with four straight finishes in the top four, including an impressive-looking win at Fairyhouse in January.
So Scottish @ 8/1
JP McManus has an interesting-looking runner in So Scottish. This French-bred eight-year-old hasn't ran over the fences since falling here in the Gold Cup Handicap Chase in December 2023 but has shown some good speed recently over hurdles.
He's recently had a breathing operation and this will be his first chase run since, with plenty expected of him by the stable.
Jazzy Matty @ 8/1
Another horse with good claims here, Jazzy Matty likes it round Cheltenham and picked up the Fred Winter a couple of years ago. Since then he's won twice as a chaser and also finished runner-up twice.
The jockey for that Fred Winter triumph was the late Michael O'Sullivan, so this would be a hugely emotional winner if the six-year-old can get another Festival win under his belt.
JPR One @ 10/1
A three-time chase winner including a couple of Grade 2 wins at Exeter and Lingfield but has had no luck on his four previous runs at this course. Joe Tizzard nevertheless will have high hopes for this one.
