Cheltenham festival 2 scaled

Day two of the Cheltenham Festival begins with an exciting race on Wednesday, the Turners Novices' Hurdle (13:20). There are currently two joint-favourites at the same price of 7/4, one of which belongs to the training guru Willie Mullins.

Below you will find the Turners Novices' Hurdle odds for 2025, and this is set to be one of the more exciting races day two at the Festival has to offer.

Turners Novices' Hurdle Odds

Final Demand @ 7/4

Mullins' entry tops the list, which comes as no surprise considering he has saddled the last three winners in this race, including the impressive Ballyburn last year. Final Demand is being tipped for superstardom and the punters at Prestbury Park can't wait to get a good look at him on Wednesday.

The six-year-old heads to Cheltenham unbeaten and will hope to keep that record intact. Sired by Walk In The Park, that is exactly what it has felt like so far for him in Ireland, with his previous two entries being won by a combined 27 lengths.

Of course this is going to be the first time in which he faces pressure given some of the names in this field, but given the prospect, we could be in for a special ride here, which of course is helped with Paul Townend on board.

The New Lion @ 7/4

The bookies can't seem to separate the top two right now and The New Lion for Dan Skelton looks to pose the biggest threat to Final Demand's unbeaten record. The six-year-old son of Kayf Tara is also yet to taste defeat, winning all four rules races to date.

Skelton is seeking his first champion in this race and he appears to have a real shot of having one this year in The New Lion. Punters also seem to fancy this runner because he was acquired by JP McManus, a serial Cheltenham Festival winner, earlier in the year. He liked what he saw at Newbury and fans are now getting on board.

On paper it looks like a hot contest between The New Lion and Final Demand, with the rest appearing to just make up the numbers.

The Yellow Clay @ 5/1

Gordon Elliott will be hoping to have something to say to that with his entry The Yellow Clay. This six-year-old gelding has Festival experience, which can be most hopeful, with The Yellow Clay posting a sixth-place finish in the 2024 Champion Bumper.

He is currently four from four over jumps heading to Prestbury Park and could be an attractive each-way punt, especially as Elliott trained the winners in 2018 (Samcro) and 2020 (Envoi Allen).

“Plenty are saying The Yellow Clay should run in the Albert Bartlett but I don’t think he’s as slow as people make out," Elliott said about his decision to enter The Yellow Clay in the Turners Novices' Hurdle.

Cheltenham Betting Odds

Potters Charm @ 14/1

Potters Charm recorded an impressive victory at this course and over the same distance in a Grade 2 in November to make it four from four under rules. The six-year-old then went on to win a Grade 1 at Aintree.

We did see a dip in January when he was beaten here by Sixmilebridge following an error. It shouldn't disrupt the Twiston-Davies' plans for him too much, and he could be another tempting each-way shot.

Sixmilebridge @ 16/1

Sixmilebridge boasts a victory here, as mentioned above, and is another one to consider for a place finish. Heads here in decent form since joining Ben Pauling's yard.

The six-year-old has an impressive engine which should help him keep pace with the two favourites and he will be one of the few waiting in the wings should either of them falter.
