Kempton Park Tips: Blue is the colour for Wednesday’s selections

One of two all-weather flat meetings taking place on Wednesday, Kempton Park offers up a bumper nine-race card that starts at 16:22 and ends at 20:30.

Betfred are paying out on four places in the 16:55 and the 19:30 and three in the finale, while the 'Free Bet if 2nd' promotion is available to utilise in the penultimate race at 20:00.

16:55 - Blue Anthem @ 7/1

With Betfred paying four places instead of three at a 1/5 of the odds in the 12-runner London Sprint Series Qualifier at 16:55, there is value to be had and it may prove prudent to side with BLUE ANTHEM.

After three below-par efforts in 2024, the three-year-old opened his account when winning over 7f 36y at Wolverhampton at the start of February, holding off Invincible Melody by a beck.

The Midnight Velvet Racing-owned charge failed to justify favouritism when ending up fifth of eight at Southwell last time out over a mile, but this drop down to 6f at Kempton looks like it should suit and he is just 3lb higher than his previous winning mark.

17:30 - Blue Eclipse @ 8/1

Nine runners are set to contest what looks like a competitive handicap over 7f at 17:30, but the one that makes the most appeal is BLUE ECLIPSE, who makes his debut in this sphere.

The three-year-old finished fifth on debut at Southwell over 1m 13yd in November last year before opening his account at Chelmsford over this 7f trip.

Blue Eclipse showed a game attitude to edge out One Horse Town by a head and the unexposed son of Oasis Dream should go well again in pursuit of a second success.

Kieran O'Neill, on board for that Chelmsford triumph, has been booked in the ride once again and he can steer the Alice Haynes-trained charge to glory.

20:00 - Ultramarine @ 15/2

With Betfred's 'Free Bet if 2nd' offer running in the penultimate race - another London Sprint Series Qualifier - it could be worth having a punt on ULTRAMARINE.

The six-year-old won twice at Kempton last year, both of those coming over 7f, and he also claimed the spoils at Wolverhampton over a slightly longer trip.

With a further six runners-up finishes in 2024, with one of those at Kempton, Ultramarine regularly gets in the mix and looks to be a major player in this race.

David Evans' charge was last seen at the end of February, finishing third at this course and there were enough positives from that effort to suggest a win can be chalked up on Wednesday.
