After a gruelling couple of months, Tottenham Hotspur look to be on the up. They've won their last three Premier League matches, something they had not done before this season. With players returning from injury, Ange Postecoglou's side will be feeling confident ahead of their home clash with Manchester City on Wednesday (19:30, TNT Sports 3).

The Citizens were comfortably beaten 2-0 at home against Liverpool on Sunday, and they could be set for more misfortune in midweek. Below you will find my Tottenham vs Manchester City predictions, featuring the latest team news and match odds.

Tottenham vs Manchester City Betting Tips

  • Tottenham to win @ 11/5
  • Mateo Kovacic to receive a card @ 12/5

Tottenham vs Manchester City Odds

With three league wins on the bounce, as well as victories over Man City in the league and Carabao Cup this term, there is value to be had in backing Spurs to win at 11/5 (which has an implied probability of 31.3%).

Man City have drawn three of their 13 away trips in the top flight this term and the stalemate is on offer at 16/5. The Citizens have won two of their previous four away contests in the league, and they are 21/20 to come away with the three points.

Both teams to score has been a successful bet in 10 of Tottenham's 13 home matches in the Premier League this season, so there is small value to be had in backing BTTS at 1/3 (75%).

Team News

Spurs have had plenty of injury troubles this campaign but there are just five players ruled out for the City clash in Radu Dragusin (ACL), Dominic Solanke (knee), Richarlison (calf), Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven (both thigh). Timo Werner has been struggling with a hamstring issue but he will be assessed ahead of Wednesday as he could yet be declared fit to return to the squad.

Ben Davies was missing in the weekend's triumph over Ipswich Town but Postecoglou confirmed it was to manage his workload. He is likely to return to partner Kevin Danso in the heart of defence against Man City.

The same applied to former City man Pedro Porro and James Maddison, and both are expected to return to the starting lineup in N17. Maddison's restoration might lead to demotion for Bayern Munich loanee Mathys Tel, with Son Heung-min, Dejan Kulusevski and Brennan Johnson operating as the front three.

Erling Haaland has missed Man City's last two matches with a knee issue and he is a doubt to return at Tottenham. This will give Pep Guardiola a huge problem as his side looked largely toothless against Liverpool.

Omar Marmoush was the most dangerous City player in that game but Phil Foden was occupying the spaces the Egyptian was best-suited to playing in. Foden may end up being dropped on Wednesday, with Marmoush tasked with leading the line.

Kevin De Bruyne started on Sunday but it was another disappointing afternoon in which it looked as if the magic had left the ageing star, with injuries in recent years looking to have also impacted him. The Belgian is another likely to be dropped for the trip to north London.

Rodri (ACL), Manuel Akanji (abductor) and John Stones (thigh) are also unavailable due to injury. Oscar Bobb was spotted in training in the lead up to this match, so he could have a role to play at Tottenham.

Tottenham to win @ 11/5

Spurs have proven to be a constant thorn in the side of Guardiola during his City tenure. They eliminated his side in the 2018/19 Uefa Champions League quarter-finals, while beating his team on seven occasions in the Premier League - no other side has managed more.

Tottenham bested City 4-0 at the Etihad back in November, in what was a devastating attacking display from Postecoglou's men. They have had plenty of sorrows since then but they look to be getting back on track with their recent victories.

A few key personnel are still out for Spurs but enough stars are available, so they should have more than enough to defeat this wailing City side, especially if there's no Haaland.

Some people have tried to argue in recent years that Man City look better without Haaland, despite him breaking goalscoring records galore. One look at the Citizens without the Norwegian on Sunday tells you all you need to know about that argument.

Tottenham can capitalise on City's woes and the potential continued absence of their top goalscorer, so I'm backing them to make it four wins in a row in the top flight.

Mateo Kovacic to receive a card @ 12/5

Against Liverpool, Man City were lacking grit in the middle of the park, something which Mateo Kovacic can provide. He came on as a substitute at the weekend and he'll likely get thrown into the starting XI on Wednesday.

The Croatian never shies away from getting stuck into a challenge, and given that Tottenham like to break quickly, he is likely going to be forced into quite a few in north London. Kovacic has committed 18 fouls in 22 Premier League appearances this term, and so he is averaging 1.04 per game.

He has been booked on five occasions so I believe there is value to be had in backing him to go into the book, especially as I am predicting another miserable evening for the visitors.
