We’ve got another cracking Premier League clash to look forward to on Saturday as Aston Villa host Chelsea (17:30, Sky Sports Main Event). Villa took a point off Liverpool in midweek in a game that they could have won late on, but they will look to get back to winning ways as they host a Chelsea team that has just been handed consecutive defeats by Brighton.

Below you can find my Aston Villa vs Chelsea Bet Builder Tips as we look to get up and running with a winner.

Aston Villa vs Chelsea Bet Builder Tips

  • Aston Villa to win
  • Ollie Watkins and Cole Palmer to score
  • Morgan Rogers to get booked

Aston Villa to win

I'm pretty comfortable backing the home side to come out with all three points on Saturday. Villa have been inconsistent of late but looked good against Liverpool and remain in the FA Cup, Champions League and the Premier League. It’s a very exciting ending to the campaign for Villa fans, but Unai Emery will also want to make sure his troops finish as high as possible in the league to secure a European spot for next season.

Aston Villa vs Chelsea Odds

They currently sit ninth, but they are only five points behind Manchester City in fourth, so another top four finish is still on the cards. They have good form at home, having only lost one of their 14 to date. They’ve drawn half of those, but they should be able to beat Enzo Maresca’s misfiring Chelsea.

  • Villa have only lost once at home this season
  • Chelsea have only won two of their last six

It feels like we have been here before with Chelea. After a bright start at the club, Maresca looks to have lost the faith of the fans having been dumped out of the FA Cup, and beaten 3-0 in the Premier League by Brighton in the space of six days. Brighton have had a strange hold over the Blues in recent years, and Chelsea now sit 12th in the form table - having won just two league games in their last six. They could crumble again under the pressure of this Villa Park crowd.

Ollie Watkins and Cole Palmer to score

I’ll back both teams to score, and two of the main men to hit the net as well. Goals seem like a certainty in this one given that Chelsea sit second and Villa third in the BTTS success rate table. In 72 per cent of Chelsea’s games both teams have found the net, while Villa are just behind them on 69 per cent.

The strength of both attacks should lead to goals, and fortunately for us, we are able to back two of the top goalscorers in the Premier League and boost our odds in the process. Ollie Watkins has scored 12 goals in 26 fixtures and hit the net with a fantastic header against Liverpool in midweek. He’s got six more goals than Villa’s next-highest scorer Morgan Rogers, and so if Villa are to score then it is likely to be the England international.

  • Ollie Watkins has scored 12 goals in 26 PL fixtures
  • Cole Palmer has scored 14 goals in 25 PL apps

His Three Lions teammate is also worth backing to find the net. Cole Palmer has scored 14 goals in 25 Premier League appearances this term but he hasn’t found the net in his last four outings. That may put some punters off, but in my eyes it just means we are getting better value on one of the finest players in England to find the net.

In seven of his last eight games he has managed at least one shot on target, so it isn’t for the want of trying and he is obviously Chelsea’s best attacking outlet. Let’s back them both to score on Saturday.

Morgan Rogers to get booked

Rogers loves a yellow card, but yet again I think he is a player who offers excellent value to get booked. Most of the time we like to pick out defenders or combative midfielders to get booked, but Rogers has actually picked up the most yellows of any player on either side so far this season (8).

  • Rogers has more yellow cards than any other Villa or Chelsea player (8)
  • Rogers has three yellows in his last five games

He has got three yellows in his last five Premier League appearances so I believe it makes perfect sense to add this selection to our Bet Builder. That takes our price up to 40/1, which looks extremely generous for Aston Villa v Chelsea.
