Ludlow scaled

Attention turns to Ludlow on Wednesday afternoon, with the Shropshire track staging a seven-race card.

Moon Chime goes to post in the handicap hurdle over two miles at 15:35 and the seven-year-old looks a candidate to get back to winning ways.

Ludlow Tips - Wednesday, February 19

  • 15:35 - Moon Chime @ 11/4
  • 16:43 - Dunstall Rambler @ 2/1
  • 17:13 - Whatsupwithyou @ 9/2

15:35 - Moon Chime @ 11/4

MOON CHIME is a dual bumper winner, who also won a maiden and novice hurdle and the seven-year-old looks set to renew progress on his second handicap start.

The David Killahena & Graeme McPherson-trained runner could only manage a fourth-placed finish on handicap debut in November, but the seven-year-old weakened close home in that Carlisle contest and is better judged on his efforts when winning at Huntingdon, although he did back that success up with a 2m4½f win at Newcastle.

The gelding clearly goes well fresh, having won on debut and following a 154-day break. Moon Chime has been off the track for 108 days and been given a wind op, so there could be some doubts but connections will have thought about his entry here.

A sharp two miles, flat track and decent ground all seem to suit Killahena & McPherson's runner and Moon Chime looks to have a big chance of landing the prize.

16:43 - Dunstall Rambler @ 2/1

DUNSTALL RAMBLER got his head in front at the 14th time of asking at Wincanton last time out and the Tom George-trained charge looks ready to follow up off a 64-day break.

Jumping has been the seven-year-old's Achilles heel during his chasing career, and while it wasn't perfect when winning at Wincanton, it was a step in the right direction.

George's charge won that race with two cracking leaps at the last two fences and looks to be returning at a suitable venue.

Ludlow doesn't pose the stiffest jumping test in the country and Dunstall Rambler is bred to be a lot better than a mark of 95, with the seven-year-old's dam a sister to George's high-class chaser Nacarat.

Dunstall Rambler lines up in a field of out-of-form rivals in the handicap chase and can strike again in Shropshire.

17:13 - Whatsupwithyou @ 9/2

WHATSUPWITHYOU will carry 12st in the staying handicap hurdle, which completes the card at 17:33, but Ben Pauling's charge looks on a winning mark and in the right class of race.

The 11-year-old was dropped to a mark of 120 following his effort when finishing third at Southwell last time out, but that effort signalled that a return to winning ways could well be on the cards.

The blinkers, which were added for the first time last time out, remain on and this looks the right grade of contest for this son of former Group 1 winner Shantou to score.
