Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester United Prediction: Hosts to win open encounter

Thirteenth and 14th place in the Premier League will go head-to-head on Sunday afternoon (16:30, live on Sky Sports Main Event) at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as Spurs host Manchester United.
The hosts have been dumped out of two cup competitions within the space of a week, while United will be glad to get away from Old Trafford, where they've lost five of the last six league outings. Read on for my Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester United prediction, as well as the latest team news and match odds.
Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester United Betting Tips
Team News
Eleven players were missing for Tottenham in the FA Cup defeat to Aston Villa last weekend, but Ange Postecoglou will be hopeful that some of those names can return here.
Guglielmo Vicario, who's has been out since fracturing his ankle against Manchester City on November 23, is thought to be pushing for a return, alongside Destiny Udogie and James Maddison.
Dominic Solanke and Richarlison are both expected to be absent, while Bayern Munich loanee Mathys Tel, who was strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford last month, could make his Spurs debut against the Red Devils.
As for United, their injury woes have cleared up recently, but Mason Mount, Jonny Evans and Luke Shaw all remain on the treatment table.
New signing Patrick Dorgu made his debut in the FA Cup win over Leicester City, and is expected to be handed his Premier League bow on Sunday.
Alejandro Garnacho's lively cameo off the bench against the Foxes will likely be enough to see him back in the starting XI, while Joshua Zirkzee may lead the line following Rasmus Hojlund's continued struggles in attack.
Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester United Odds
Spurs are 6/4 to claim a much-needed victory, giving them an implied win probability of 40%, the draw is 11/4, while a United win can be backed at 13/8.
Hojlund is favourite to score anytime at 7/4, and Tel is shortest-priced for the hosts at 9/5.
Tottenham Hotspur to win @ 6/4
Surprisingly, United have only lost two of the nine matches they've played in 2025, winning five and drawing away at both Liverpool and Arsenal - beating the latter on penalties despite being down to 10 men for the best part of an hour.
However, as mentioned in the introduction, Ruben Amorim's side have lost five of their last six league matches at Old Trafford, and United's performances have been largely underwhelming even when they do win - see their 1-0 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage as an example.
Spurs will be looking to respond to losing to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup semi-finals as well as Aston Villa in the FA Cup fourth round, and they're on a run of seven games without a win on their own patch.
However, the hosts were the superior side when the teams met in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals in December, racing to a 3-0 lead before making life difficult for themselves after errors from Fraser Forster.
Despite the negative coverage surrounding Spurs at the moment, they've still managed to beat Liverpool and Brentford, and enjoy convincing victories over Hoffenheim and Elfsborg in the Europa League during this woeful run of form.
United remain too unpredictable to back, so I'm siding with a home win in this one.

Over 3.5 goals @ 11/10
Spurs' injury problems have been well-documented, and it's only recently that Postecoglou has been able to call upon some of his first-choice defenders.
However, there's a certain defensive vulnerability that comes with playing on the front foot, as Spurs try to, which is why it's no surprise to see that both teams have scored in each of the last 10 league games at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. In fact, Spurs have shipped 16 goals in their last five home contests in the Premier League.
Despite United scraping a 1-0 win at Craven Cottage the last time they were on their travels domestically, I'm expecting an open affair here as the Red Devils have conceded at least twice in four of their last seven league games on the road.
