Horse Racing Tips: King has Speed to see off Wolverhampton rival

Jump racing holds sway across Britain on Monday with three meetings taking place across the afternoon and into the evening. First off is Plumpton before they go at Catterick and an evening all-weather meeting follows at Wolverhampton.

Amongst my Monday Horse Racing tips is one for trainer Mark Loughnane who won this race last year and has the ability to win it again.

15:00 Catterick - Damarta @ 17/2

Unbeaten hurdler It's All About You is open to further improvement on a mark of 118 on handicap bow, but Olly Murphy's DAMARTA could get back on track in this sphere in the 2m handicap hurdle.

The son of Martaline showed some promise on his chasing debut at Carlisle in October but has failed to build on that in two subsequent starts and was well beaten when a faller over 2m1f at Market Rasen last time.

Damarta bolted up in a handicap hurdle at Southwell over 2m in January of last year and is only 8lb higher now, while he finished runner-up off this mark when last seen over timber last April.

The hood goes back on, along with the usual tongue-tie, and hope rests on a return to hurdling for this lad, but it could work well.

15:15 Plumpton - Telhimlisten @ 11/4

TELHIMLISTEN is back for a second spell with Jennie Candlish and the nine-year-old son of Fame And Glory couldn't have been more impressive when making all to win in testing conditions at Sedgefield over 2m1f last month.

That was his first run in 391 days, so there was every chance he would have needed it to gain fitness and we can assume he can only improve on that here with the cobwebs truly brushed away.

The handicapper has responded with a 5lb rise, which is more than fair and he bolted up on his sole outing around here in a three-runner affair off a 1lb lower mark in April 2023.

Candlish is having a fantastic season too. She has amassed 32 winners already this season, which is already 11 more than what she totalled for last season, so the yard is certainly in fine form.

20:30 Wolverhampton - King Of Speed @ 13/8

Young star rider Billy Loughnane has a brilliant record around Dunstall Park and he can guide KING OF SPEED to victory in the closing 1m1f handicap at Wolverhampton for trainer Mark Loughnane.

Billy rode this horse to victory in this race 12 months ago off a mark of 56 and he's only 3lb higher here.

He was a big eye-catcher in an apprentice handicap over the mile at Kempton last time out as he was slowly away but flew home to take second in the closing stages.

Hopefully, King Of Speed can be better away from the stalls here as he has a nice pitch near the rail in stall three. He's a big player.
