Horse Racing Tips: Thelonglad to make amends

There are four UK and Irish race meetings on Wednesday, with a mix of jumps and all-weather fare to look forward to.
Fairyhouse, Ludlow and Sedgefield are the venues of choice for the afternoon jumps action, while later on they have seven races under the floodlights at Kempton on the Polytrack.
Horse Racing Tips - Wednesday, February 5
13:25 Fairyhouse – Thelonglad @ 9/2
It might be worth siding with THELONGLAD to gain some compensation for Michael McDonagh and Cian Quirke in this Fairyhouse handicap chase.
The seven-year-old was a maiden of 10 starts over hurdles but he showed an aptitude for his game at Limerick (2m1½f, yielding to soft) on St Stephen's Day.
He was back from 266 days off and jumping fences for the first time in public, and doing it well, only for things to come a cropper late on.
Up on the pace from around halfway, he hit the front entering the home straight and was still there moving well when he came down at the second last.
He's been given time to get over that mishap and will have schooled plenty since. If he can produce a clean round now, this could be his moment upped in trip.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
14:45 Ludlow – Simple Getaway @ 4/1
Tout Sur Moi ran a race of promise at Taunton two starts ago, finishing fourth on his chasing bow, but Jane Williams' charge was popular in the betting back over the same course and distance just after Christmas and didn't build on that initial positive.
He's had a wind operation since and is lightly-raced but opposed for now with SIMPLE GETAWAY.
An Irish point winner for Donnachadh Doyle in late 2022, he had just three starts over hurdles – two of them for Venetia Williams – before turning attention to chasing.
He was back from 290 days off at Exeter (3m, soft) on New Year's Day when just appearing to get tired late on, finishing fourth.
That was his first start in a handicap and he has quickly been eased 4lb to a mark of 100. This race has less depth about it and he's one to make improvement at this sort of level.

19:00 Kempton – Enpassant @ 9/4
A 7f handicap in which top-weight Tyger Bay has to bounce back after failing to see his race out at Lingfield last time.
Lunarscape and Ashford Hill both finished second on their most recent starts for Mark Loughnane and Dominic Ffrench-Davis but ENPASSANT is the call for Stuart Williams.
The Starspangledbanner gelding was third over course and distance a week ago, beaten just over a length having found himself short of room at a crucial stage.
He's been eased a further pound by the assessor and has been running consistent races since joining this handler.
He's dropped a total of 7lb since debuting for this yard in September and has a good chance of picking up a race in this grade before long.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
