West Bromwich Albion are still coming to terms with life after Carlos Corberan and they have taken just one point from the two games since he departed for Valencia. After two away fixtures they return to The Hawthorns to take on Preston North End.

The Lilywhites have won back-to-back games for the first time this season heading into this clash, beating Sheffield Wednesday and Hull City at Deepdale. Below you will find my West Brom vs Preston North End prediction, including the latest match odds and team news.

West Brom vs Preston North End Betting Tips

  • Draw @ 5/2
  • Both teams to score @ 1/1

West Brom vs Preston North End Odds

West Brom are 5/6, which carries an implied probability of 54.5%, to win this match. The Baggies have won four of their 11 home games to date this season. Preston are valued at 100/30 (23.1%) to take the three points, but they have managed just one away win this term so far.

The draw can be backed at 5/2 (28.6%) and no team has experienced more stalemates this season than West Brom (12) in the second tier.

Both teams to score has been a winning selection in seven of Preston's 11 away games and is priced at 1/1 for this contest. Over 3.5 goals has struck in two of Albion's last four matches at The Hawthorns and it is on offer at 100/30 for Wednesday.

West Brom striker Josh Maja has scored 10 league goals this campaign and he is the 13/8 favourite to score anytime in this clash.

Team News

The hosts will be hoping that Alex Mowatt and Mason Holgate will be available to face Preston after the duo missed the draw at Sheffield United last time out.

Mowatt would likely go straight back into the midfield if he makes the squad. Ousmane Diakite would be the most likely to make way for him as Jayson Molumby delivered an excellent performance against the Blades.

Semi Ajayi remains out of action with a hamstring issue he picked up in October. The Nigerian has had surgery but he is not expected back until February at the earliest. Striker Daryl Dike is still recovering from the Achilles injury he sustained in February.

Maja is expected to lead the line as usual, and he should be aided by Tom Fellows, Karlan Ahearne-Grant and Mikey Johnston in the final third. At the back, Kyle Bartley and Torbjorn Heggem should continue their partnership in the heart of the backline, while Darnell Furlong and Callum Styles will provide width as the full-backs.

For Preston, boss Paul Heckingbottom Preston should stick with a back three of Jordan Storey, Jack Whatmough and Andrew Hughes. After they both scored against Wednesday, Emil Riis Jakobsen and Sam Greenwood should continue to lead the line for the visitors.

Will Keane could continue to operate just behind them but if Heckingbottom decides to rotate his midfield options, the likes of Duane Holmes, Mads Frokjaer-Jensen, Ryan Ledson and Ben Whiteman will be on standby for promotion to the XI.

Preston have no fresh injury concerns heading into Wednesday, which should serve as a huge boost for Heckingbottom and his men.

Draw @ 5/2

Albion have been the kings of draws this season so I'm at a point now where I am expecting a stalemate whenever they play. They picked up an impressive draw on their last outing against the Blades, which was enhanced considering Corberan wasn't there to orchestrate it.

While the hunt goes on for a new boss, the caretaker trio of Chris Brunt, Boaz Myhill and Damia Abella have more than enough resources to navigate the Baggies until a full-time successor can be found.

They will be happy to return to The Hawthorns and will hope that this factor can help them get a win on the board. I do think Preston will present them with a tough test, though, as they have lost just two of their last seven away fixtures.

The Lilywhites were impressive at home against the Owls at the weekend and so they will head to the West Midlands in high spirits. I think we could provide West Brom with another tough test, and so I think another draw could be on the cards.

It was a 1-1 scoreline when the two teams met at Deepdale at the end of November, and I wouldn't be surprised to see the same result unfold this time around.

Both teams to score @ 1/1

With that in mind, I think both teams to score is also worth backing for this fixture. As mentioned above, it was a winning selection in the reverse fixture when the two sides met a few weeks ago, while it has also landed in seven of Preston's 11 away games to date, including four of their last six.

BTTS has not been very frequent at The Hawthorns this season (two out of 11 matches) but those two games have come in the last four appearances here, so Preston could help add to this trend on Wednesday.

The Lilywhites have been spurred on from their two home victories which should give them the belief that they can become the fourth visiting side to find the back of the net at this ground in 24/25.
