One of the big race meetings on Boxing Day is the seven-race offering from Leopardstown, scheduled to run from 12:00-15:30.

I've picked out a few Leopardstown tips ahead of one of the biggest days of the year for National Hunt punters.

Leopardstown Tips - Boxing Day 2024

  • 12:35 - Redemption Day @ 4/5
  • 13:10 - Willy De Houelle @ 6/4
  • 14:20 - Better Days Ahead @ 11/8

12:35 - Redemption Day @ 4/5

Willie Mullins has bided his time with REDEMPTION DAY, with his stable star set to make his hurdling debut on Boxing Day.

The seven-year-old has made seven appearances to date, winning three of those contests. Two of those wins have come this year, with Redemption Day triumphing at Fairyhouse and Punchestown.

His win in May at Punchestown was at Grade 1 level, and with Mullins leading the way in Ireland, a strong hurdling debut is expected this week.

13:10 - Willy De Houelle @ 6/4

Mullins will be a busy man across numerous cards in Ireland and the UK on Thursday and he will hope to record back-to-back wins at Leopardstown.

WILLY DE HOUELLE - another of the Mullins contingent - is the favourite to win the Grade 2 race on the card, although he faces competition from Gavin Cromwell's Hello Neighbour (11/4).

Willy De Houelle has only been seen once since joining Mullins' stable in May, finishing second at Fairyhouse at the start of this month.

He lost by less than two lengths to Naturally Nimble (7/1) that day, but he is 3lb better off this time around.

14:20 - Better Days Ahead @ 11/8

The race of the day at Leopardstown - the Grade 1 Racing Post Long Distance Novice Chase - has only attracted four runners.

Trainer Gordon Elliott is responsible for three of them, including BETTER DAYS AHEAD who won the Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys' Handicap Hurdle at Cheltenham in March.

He then made his chasing debut in November, winning at Navan by four lengths ahead of Slade Steel.

Better Days Ahead could well be the one to beat all season in the novice division and he should set the standard after a sublime chasing debut last month.
