Brighton & Hove Albion vs Southampton Stats & Premier League Betting Analysis

Bragging rights are up for grabs when Brighton & Hove Albion and Southampton clash in the Premier League at the Amex Stadium on Friday evening (20:00).
A victory for the Seagulls would see them climb to second in the table, continuing what has been a fine start to Fabian Hurzeler's debut season in charge, while the Saints are rock-bottom of the standings and five points from safety.
Brighton & Hove Albion vs Southampton Stats
- Brighton second in form table (last six matches)
- Southampton bottom of form table (last six matches)
- Brighton's success of scoring at home in the league - 83%
- Southampton's away clean sheet record - 0%
Form Guide
Over the last six league matches, Brighton sit second in the form table having won four times, drawn once and lost once. The only side boasting a better record than them during this period is Liverpool, who have won five and drawn one.
The Seagulls are yet to lose at the Amex Stadium in the top-flight this season, winning three and drawing three, with just Brentford, Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City taking more points at home than Brighton.
Southampton are the only team who haven't taken a single point away from home, losing all six matches and conceding 13 goals in the process. The Saints have lost their last two fixtures, going down 2-0 at Wolves and 3-2 at home to Liverpool.
Head-to-head
Friday's contest will be the 80th meeting between these two sides, with Southampton winning 36 times compared to Brighton's 23. There have been 20 draws.
The Seagulls have had the better of this fixture in recent years and are unbeaten in the last five clashes, winning three times and drawing twice. Brighton won the last meeting 3-1 in May 2023 at the Amex Stadium, with Evan Ferguson grabbing a brace and Pascal Gross scoring.
The first contest between the pair came back in November 1903 in the Southern League, with Southampton running out comfortable 5-1 winners.
There have been just five goalless draws in the 79 meetings, with the last coming in November 2010.

Goals
Brighton have scored 11 goals from their six home games in the league, failing to find the back of the net in just one of those, but they have kept just one clean sheet during this period.
The Seagulls have an 83% success rate of both teams scoring at the Amex Stadium, although BTTS has been successful in just 50% of Southampton’s games on the road.
The Saints are the lowest scorers in the division, netting just nine times, while their tally of three away goals leaves them bottom of those standings.
But Russell Martin's side have bagged in two of their last three games and given Brighton's defensive issues, BTTS could happen at 8/13.
While Danny Welbeck is the Seagulls' top scorer, his team-mate Joao Pedro has netted in his last two games for the Seagulls and he could be worth a look at 6/5 to score at any time on Friday.

Cards
Southampton have received 40 yellow cards from 12 matches, the second highest in the division behind Chelsea (45), with an average of just over three per game.
Brighton have a better disciplinary record, picking up just 27 yellows, but they did get their first red of the campaign last time out when Carlos Baleba was given his marching orders.
In the last four meetings between the pair, there have been 17 yellow cards shown, an average of just over four per contest, with seven of those coming in the most recent encounter in May 2023.
Referee Rob Jones, who will be in charge for Friday's game, has shown 42 yellows and two reds from eight league matches this season and backing over 52.5 booking points at the Amex at 1/1 looks like a shrewd choice.
Fouls
Brighton's summer signing Georginio Rutter leads the club's fouls charts, committing 19 at an average of 1.73 per game, so he could be worth a look to make a couple more.
Another player that could be in the thick of things is Saints midfielder Flynn Downes, who has also conceded 19 fouls across his 11 appearances.
