Now we all love our motorsport. Whether you are into Formula One or NASCAR, there’s something for everyone, but the most annoying thing about those sports is those quiet weekends in between races. Well, Betfred could have a solution for you to scratch that motor racing itch, in the form of Virtual Motor Racing.

So what is it, and how can you play along? Below we answer all of those questions and more.

Virtual Motor Racing Betting

  • Winner – bet on the winner
  • Forecast - predict the top two in order
  • Tricast - predict the top three in order

What markets can you bet on in Virtual Motor Racing?

Winner – 12 drivers in every race are priced up per race on Betfred, meaning not every race offers the same winning chance or the same odds. You can back your selection to win, with a typical favourite being priced up at around 4/1 and odds of up to 50/1 available for the outsiders.

Forecast or Tricast – you can back two or three selections in either a straight forecast or tricast. That is predicting the top two in order, or the top three in order. You’ll be able to see how much your bet is worth, as the odds for the riders are fixed and will not change.

How does it work?

Virtual Motor Racing on Betfred takes place every three minutes, with each race lasting for three laps around the track, which takes about 60 seconds in total. These events run around the clock, so no matter what time you want to play, you should have a race to watch.

The virtual version of motor racing is easy to watch and understand. The cars line-up on the grid, and they are all marked with a different colour and number so you can keep a close eye on your selection. Their positions in the race are updated in real-time, so you can easily track the action. It’s on a circular track, so certainly more NASCAR than Formula One, but that makes it easier for the viewer to follow.

If your driver crosses the finish line first, you win, just as is the case if you are backing a real Formula One driver to win a race.

The races are full-throttle and exciting, while on Betfred they also feature commentary, which adds to the drama and makes the overall experience of Virtual Motor Racing feel quite realistic.

Is it fair?

As with all of Betfred’s Virtual Games on their website, the outcome is decided by a random number generator. That means it is determined before you place your bets and so there it is completely fair. In fact, outcomes are regularly tested by independent third parties to ensure any virtual sports you play with Betfred are fully compliant.

The one downside is that because it is random, you can’t back your favourite driver or the car showing excellent pace. You won’t find Lando Norris or Max Verstappen on the Virtuals, so that does slightly take the advantage from the player. Also, if we are comparing it to slots rather than sports, the Return to Player is hovering around 90%, which is comparatively low compared to some slots that can be higher than 95%.

So, Virtual Motor Racing is completely fair and certainly a lot of fun while the real thing is away. But as always, you must be aware of what you are gambling on - virtual sports are completely pot luck from the player’s point of view, but it is fair.
