Cheltenham racecourse

There is a cracking day of racing scheduled on Saturday afternoon. Cheltenham will draw much of the focus domestically while there’s also graded action in Ireland from Navan.

We’ve picked out our best three bets from across the cards on Saturday and it includes one in Cheltenham’s feature race. The tips also feature an each-way player in a Cheltenham handicap and a last time out winner at Wetherby.

Horse Racing Tips - Saturday, November 16

  • 14:20 Cheltenham - Ginny’s Destiny @ 11/4
  • 14:55 Cheltenham - Zeeband @ 14/1
  • 14:45 Wetherby - Old Gregorian @ 2/1

14:20 Cheltenham - Ginny's Destiny @ 11/4

Cheltenham's feature race on day two of the November meeting on Saturday has attracted 15 runners and Betfred are paying four places on the race.

While it's a big field, it might be worth keeping things simple with Ginny's Destiny, who is a horse firmly on the up for Paul Nicholls.

This eight-year-old has been highly progressive since joining Nicholls just over a year ago. He won over this course and distance on last year's card before following up with two more Cheltenham wins on the New Course and he went on to run two crackers in defeat in Grade 1 novice company in the Turners and the Manifesto.

This son of Yeats is really well suited to the Old Course at Cheltenham, which tends to be of benefit to those that like to race close to the pace, and there's every chance he'll be able to obtain an uncontested lead in this field given that there aren't any other confirmed front runners in the contest.

The ground shouldn't be an issue as he won on good to soft at Cheltenham in January, while the handicapper has let him off the hook for those two Grade 1 second-place finishes, leaving him on a mark of 155. The yard won this last season and can do so again with this top prospect.

14:55 Cheltenham - Zeeband @ 14/1

Galway trainer Paul Gilligan won this contest last year with Buddy One, who runs on Friday's card, and he has claims of landing another renewal this time around with Zeeband.

This Irish raider arrives on the back of a career-best effort in a handicap hurdle at Galway when amongst some nice prospects, including the winner, who appears to have a bright future for Willie Mullins.

His revised handicap mark makes life tougher but the trainer is a shrewd operator and this gelding isn't fully exposed at this sort of trip.

14:55 Cheltenham - Winner Zeeband

14:45 Wetherby - Old Gregorian @ 2/1

Wetherby's Class 3 handicap hurdle over two miles is one of the better races on the card and one that looks capable of running a big race is Old Gregorian.

He won with plenty in hand at Kelso last time out, going away again at the line, and an 8lb rise for that near four-length success can be considered lenient.

Unlike some of his rivals, he's proven on a decent surface and he should be capable of following up last month's success in what looks a winnable heat.

14:45 Wetherby - Winner Old Gregorian
