Luxembourg vs bulgaria

Despite a shock 5-0 loss in Belfast last month, Bulgaria are still in with a shot of automatic promotion out of the Nations League C, sitting just two points behind leaders Northern Ireland.

Read on for my Luxembourg vs Bulgaria prediction, as well as the latest team news and match odds.

Luxembourg vs Bulgaria Betting Tips

  • Draw @ 2/1
  • Bet Builder: Under 2.5 goals & Under 3.5 Luxembourg corners @ 13/5

Football Odds

Bulgaria will fancy their chances of coming at least second in the section, with a winnable game against Belarus their group-stage finale, but they must first overcome Luxembourg on Friday.

Luxembourg need two wins from their final two matches and a number of results to go their way if they are to avoid a place in the relegation play-offs, so they will be up for a fight at home.

Team News

Unsurprisingly for a nation of its size, Luxembourg’s squad is pretty much as it was last month.

All-time top scorer Gerson Rodrigues should lead the line for the hosts, with Alessandro Curci and Danel Sinani in support.

Leeds midfielder Illia Gruev remains out for Bulgaria, who have dropped 10 players from the squad which travelled to Belfast last month.

Captain Kiril Despodov is the visitors’ star man and should lead the line in Luxembourg.

There is little to split these sides in the market, with Luxembourg 7/4, Bulgaria 13/8 and the draw 2/1.

Goals seem unlikely on Friday, hence why both teams to score is 11/10 and over 2.5 is a huge 13/8.

If there is a goal, it seems likely to come from Luxembourg’s all-time top scorer Gerson Rodrigues, who is 5/1 to open the scoring.

Draw @ 2/1

Luxembourg desperately need some positive results if they are to have any chance of avoiding a relegation play-off and a potential spot in the basement of the Nations League, and that motivation could see Luc Holtz get a reaction out of his side.

With the Red Lions’ three away games done and dusted, they have two home fixtures this month and they can kick off that favourable run by earning a point against Bulgaria, just as they did when impressing in Plovdiv in the last international break.

That draw means that the last three meetings between this pair have all finished level, with the same bet a huge runner again.

Bulgaria are a superior side on paper and their ambitions of a top-two finish will give them hope, but their 5-0 drubbing in Belfast cannot be ignored and they are hard to back on that evidence.

They are also hard to bet against, though, given that defeat in Northern Ireland was their first of 2024, so a draw seems the likeliest result on Friday.

Last month’s head-to-head finished 0-0 and backing the same scoreline at a decent price of 6/1 also makes some appeal.

Bet Builder: Under 2.5 goals & Under 3.5 Luxembourg corners @ 13/5

As alluded to above, goals could be at a premium in Luxembourg. The pair have scored one goal apiece in this season’s Nations League, so it is difficult to envisage them suddenly finding their shooting boots on Friday.

Corners could also be hard to come by at the Luxembourg Stadium, especially for the hosts.

The Red Lions have gone six games without having more than three corners in a match and they managed just two in the reverse fixture.

Combining under 3.5 home corners with under 2.5 goals makes for a tempting 13/5 bet builder.
