Betfred Big Winner: BOG sees Lucky payout boosted by £37k

He's a big fan of horse racing trainer Richard Fahey and a regular at Betfred... and his long-standing loyalty to both has paid off handsomely.

The 75-year-old retired bus driver won £50,814 from a £2 Lucky 15 on horses exclusively from the North Yorkshire operation.

Using the odds at the time he placed his bet, he would have won £13,368 after all four selections romped home at Newmarket and Newcastle - but thanks to Betfred's Best Odds Guaranteed promotion his windfall was boosted by a whopping £37,446.

The huge boost was in no small part down to Fahey's horse Beattie Is Back, who won after doubling in price from 9/1 to 18/1.

The jubilant winner, who visits the Betfred shop on Eastbank Street, Southport every day, also had Blue Force at Newcastle together with Sixfiveseven and Chourmo at Newmarket.

He said: "Richard Fahey hasn't been doing so great recently, but I stuck with him and I've been loyal to Betfred for a long time since I fell out with a rival.

"It’s not been a bad weekend, with my team Liverpool going top of the Premier League and this win on the horses.

"There will be a tenner in the grandchildren's cards this Christmas rather than the usual fiver!" he joked.

Reflecting on a previous big win at Betfred, he added: "I also won £10,000 on a 50p Canadian at Betfred in the summer. We'll be having a great Christmas with some nice surprises I'm sorting out."
