National League side Tamworth welcome League 1 Huddersfield Town to The Lamb Ground in the FA Cup first round on Friday night (19:45, BBC Two). The Lambs have adjusted well following their promotion in the summer, and they have collected 21 points from their first 16 matches. They sit eight points clear of the relegation spots as a result.

Huddersfield head into this match on a five-game unbeaten run in all competitions, including four wins, so they will be feeling confident heading to Staffordshire. Read on for my Tamworth vs Huddersfield Town prediction, accompanied by the latest match odds and team news.

Team News

Tamworth have no fresh injury concerns heading into this match. Boss Andy Peaks will likely name a full-strength team to give them their best chance of taking down third-tier opposition.

We will likely see Nathan Tshikuna continue in an attacking role as the Lambs' top scorer in the National League with five goals already this season. The 25-year-old has also contributed three assists for his team, so he will play a vital role for the hosts against the Terriers.

For Huddersfield, they head here in good form but they are still having to cope with a few injuries to some of their key stars. Michael Duff is going to be without the services of Michal Helik, Josh Koroma, Lee Nicholls and Lasse Sorensen on Friday night.

Jacob Chapman has been deputising for Nicholls between the sticks, but we could see third choice shot-stopper Chris Maxwell given the nod to start in Tamworth after making a handful of appearances already in the EFL Trophy and Carabao Cup.

The likes of Jonathan Hogg, Rhys Healey, Freddie Ladapo, Antony Evans and Ollie Turton will all be pushing to start this match, hoping to impress their manager and force their way into his thinking for the first XI in League 1.

There is a good chance that we will see all of them feature so that some of the first-choice stars are given a rest and are fresh for their trip to Crawley Town next weekend.

Huddersfield Town & both teams to score @ 2/1

The Terriers' tails are certainly up at the moment, and this is a good sign because we are about to enter the period which is deemed the toughest of the campaign. The cold nights and pitches, fatigue creeping in from the first phase of the season that has been played with games coming thick and fast.

Injuries won't be helping Huddersfield in this instance, but the squad is serving its purpose with the continuing results while some of the stars are out of action.

Duff has already experienced a couple of blips since taking the post over the summer, but it feels like things are starting to click for his side now and that he knows what his best team is.

We are likely to see a few changes to the team for the match against Tamworth, but there are still some talented players who are likely to be called upon on Friday. Each of them will be hungry to turn in a strong performance to try and earn some more minutes in the league, as the Terriers are going to be pushing for an immediate return back to the Championship.

Even if things aren't playing out the way they would like at The Lamb Ground, Duff will be able to turn to his more reliable first-team stars to come on and change the game if needed. I think they will have more than enough quality to progress to the second round, but I can see the hosts getting on the scoresheet.

Tamworth have scored 19 goals in the National League this term and both teams to score has been a winning selection in 10 of their matches across all competitions this campaign. If the Terriers' back line is rotated, I think their chances of getting on the scoresheet will increase significantly, so I've been lured into this particular selection.

Over 2.5 goals @ 4/6

With that in mind, I think it also makes sense to cover over 2.5 goals. There have been at least three goals scored in nine of Tamworth's fixtures across all competitions this term, including six of their last eight appearances.

For Huddersfield, over 2.5 goals has landed in six of their 13 clashes in the Championship this season, including three of their six trips on the road. We have seen three or more goals scored in three of their four appearances in cup competitions this campaign, so I feel as though this trend is worth backing to continue on Friday night in Staffordshire.
