National Hunt action dominates proceedings on Thursday, with three of the day’s meetings taking place over jumps.

I've three strong horse racing tips across the day, including one for in-form trainer Neil Mulholland at Ludlow who’s set to be ridden by promising claimer Dylan Johnston.

Horse Racing Tips - Thursday, October 24

  • 15:30 Carlisle - Wise Guy @ 11/2
  • 17:05 Ludlow - Inoui Machin @ 5/4
  • 18:45 Wolverhampton - Lartigue @ 8/1

15:30 Carlisle - Wise Guy @ 11/2

Previous course and distance winner WISE GUY could be one to look out for at Carlisle on Thursday and he’ll be looking to extend his unbeaten record at the track.

Stuart Edmunds’ five-year-old has been pretty consistent since switching to handicaps and got off the mark over timber at Lingfield in February.

He returned to the winners’ enclosure when scoring over course and distance two starts later and pulled nicely clear to win by eight lengths.

Always up with the pace, the result never really looked in doubt and it was a thoroughly professional performance.

His current mark of 109 wouldn’t have stopped him that day so if returning in similar form, he’ll surely be very difficult to beat once again.

This is an Extra Place Race, so Betfred will be paying 4 Places (1/5 odds) instead of 3.

17:05 Ludlow - Inoui Machin @ 5/4

INOUI MACHIN has shown potential since the start of his career and managed to win two of his three starts in bumpers. He showed a good attitude to score by a length when pulling clear with the second at Doncaster back in February 2022.

It was an even better performance when winning comfortably under a penalty at Chepstow next time as the second went on to become useful over hurdles.

Things didn’t click immediately over hurdles for Neil Mulholland’s gelding, but he managed to get off the mark at Hereford in March. Successful again in handicap company at Kempton in May, his pedigree suggests there could be more to come over fences.

His trainer is in decent form of late, with seven winners from just 25 runners in the last fortnight and the promising conditional Dylan Johnston will be in the saddle.

With a strike-rate of 36 per cent in the last fortnight, further success aboard this gelding shouldn’t be ruled out.

17:05 Ludlow - Winner Inoui Machin

18:45 Wolverhampton - Lartigue @ 8/1

Karl Burke has had a monumental season, finishing fourth in the British Trainers’ Championship after amassing almost £4,000,000 in prize money and he could have yet another winner here with LARTIGUE.

He ran very well when second over course and distance on debut and the horse back in third is now a 92-rated handicapper. A reproduction of that effort would surely put him in the mix here.

Lartigue did himself no favours when taking the final turn too wide and kept on nicely to finish third once he straightened up. He’s a big, scopey sort who should get better with age and it’s highly likely that the best is yet to come.

The three-time-raced four-year-old makes his handicap debut here and it would be no surprise if he ends up being a fair bit better than this opening mark of 76. Provided he’s sharp enough here, Burke’s colt is entitled to take a big step forward.

This is a Super Extra Place Race, so Betfred will be paying 4 Places instead of 3 for each-way bets at 1/5 odds.

18:45 Wolverhampton - Winner Lartigue
