Nap of the day with owen mcmahon

After back-to-back non-runners, the real victory on Saturday will be getting a run for our money!

Jokes aside, it's another exciting recruit to chasing for a bang in-form yard who rates my Nap of the Day.

You'd be hard stretched to find a trainer in better form than Olly Murphy right now.

The Warwickshire-based handler is operating at a 31% strike rate in the past fortnight, courtesy of eight winners from 26 runners. Five of the 18 losers finished runner-up, meaning half of his runners were first or second. Impressive.

That bodes well for WESTERNINTHEPARK, who makes his debut over fences in this 0-120 handicap over 2m5f.

The six-year-old son of Walk In The Park showed a decent level of form in bumpers while under the care of Milton Harris, prior to a short but promising few runs in novice hurdles for Anthony Charlton.

He got off the mark at the first attempt in that sphere - a maiden at Plumpton at the start of the year - and followed up with a comfortable four-length success in a Fakenham novice exactly a month later.

The selection was conceding 10lbs to the horse in second, who won his subsequent start by a whopping eight lengths, earning a rating of 124.

That rival has since been dropped four pounds, but he's been holding his own and even so, that would put Murphy's gelding well into the mid-high 120s.

His final run over flights came at Sandown in March, in a Grade 3 handicap hurdle off a mark of 118, where he finished fifth, beaten by just over six lengths.

Fast forward 224 days and he makes his chase debut for new connections off just a pound higher. I strongly suspect that underestimates this horse, who looks made for the bigger obstacles and has significant improvement in him.

Fitness is the only concern, but given how well Murphy's string are going, it's nothing more than a slight one.

He's a strong bet at 15/8.
