Today's Horse Races

13:55 - Montassib @ 11/2

This one's in prime form, fresh from a career-best to win Haydock's G1 Sprint Cup 42 days ago.

Top sprinters tend to win in their turn. Pop in and out of form. That makes our job that little bit more difficult, but I do think this six-year-old Exceed And Excel gelding has an outstanding chance, for trainer William Haggas and jockey Cieren Fallon.

Montassib goes on soft, a vital factor given the likely conditions. He's got a bit to find on official ratings but is in a proper purple patch right now, and I expect a very patient waiting race to be deployed by Cieren, with a late, decisive swoop; fingers crossed.

14:35 - Tiffany @ 7/1

Another G1 challenger with a few pounds to find in theory, but a filly in great nick who will handle the ground and who hails from an Arc-winning yard.

Tiffany is a four-year-old that's been campaigned imaginatively by connections, and took a G2 at Baden-Baden when last seen 49 days ago. She's with Sir Mark Prescott and is beautifully bred, by Farhh out of a Sadler's Wells mare.

Regular stable pilot Luke Morris rides, and as she's fairly lightly-raced should be fresh and primed for this mile-and-a-half test. In keeping with pretty much all the programme, an absolute firecracker of a race.

15:15 - Charyn @ 7/4

One of the milers of the season, kicking in way back in March at Donny with Listed success, through to this prestigious G1 taking down the Queen Anne and the Marois along the way.

What a fantastic campaign it's been for Roger Varian's star, beautifully assisted throughout by jockey Silvestre De Sousa, who has really excelled on this son of Dark Angel.

Tamfana is in terrific order and will be difficult to keep at bay receiving 6lb weight for age/sex allowance - but I won't swap Charyn at this point. He owes no-one anything, but might well just have another superb performance in him after a nice break of 41 days.

15.55 - Calandagan @ 6/4

A lightly-raced three-year-old Gleneagles gelding who got to within a length of City Of Troy in the Juddmonte at York, when last seen 59 days ago.

It was a career-best for the Aga Khan's Calandagan, and what's crucial is that he's won on heavy and very soft - a massive plus in the prevailing conditions.

He gets a bit further than this ten-furlong trip too, and in seven lifetime starts to date hasn't finished out of the top three; with four of those runs being successful.

Silly remark/spoiler alert - in my humble opinion it's his to lose.

This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!

The odds can fluctuate between publishing our pieces and race-time. As a guide, a £0.25p each-way Lucky 15 on today's selections, at the prices, and assuming all four won, would return around £235 for your total £7.50 stake.
