Lucky 15 tips with alan firkins

Quick bit of housekeeping/shameless self-promotion. Saturday's L15, two winners, including the headline horse at 5/1. ITV piece - four winners from eight selections, including at 8/1,and two others that rewarded each-way support. Oh, and an article tipping up the dramatic, super-talented Dewhurst winner, Shadow Of Light.

Right - new week to go at, and for Tuesday's Lucky 15 tips I'm heading to Newcastle for a nine-race all-weather card on the Tapeta, kicking in at 16:25. The weather hopefully won't be a factor and I'm sure we'll be regally entertained up at Gosforth Park.

Today's Horse Races

18:00 - L'Karama @ 10/3

An unraced two-year-old Starspangledbanner colt, in the care of Archie Watson.

L'Karama will race in the famous silks of Sheikh Ahmed Al Maktoum, and unsurprisingly given their potency when getting together, the brilliant Hollie Doyle rides for the Newmarket trainer.

Not much to go on here, but our selection is beautifully bred, being out of a Canford Cliffs mare too, and has an early-closing entry already for next year's Irish 2000 Guineas. Connections/breeding are impeccable - I'm hoping that will add up to a debut success on Tuesday tea-time.

19:00 - Walson's Law @ 5/2

A more experienced type now, for another fantastic combination in trainer George Boughey and jockey Billy Loughnane.

Three-year-old Walson's Law made his handicap debut here 12 days ago off a mark of 65, and has been raised 4lb for finishing just a head behind the winner. It was nearly 3l back to the third.

Any kind of a repeat puts him bang in the frame and last time represented the best of his four career starts to date. Looks like a winner waiting to happen to me.

19:30 - Yorkstone @ 7/2

Joanna Mason rides for her grandad Mick Easterby, and his son David.

Jo is a terrific pilot and rode this one when it was last seen 259 days ago, finishing a neck second at Southwell at the trip/grade. The four-year-old gelding must have had some issues but one hopes they are behind him, and as Yorkstone runs in the colours of the Mick and David Easterby racing group it could be a real family affair and then some.

20:30 - Concert Boy @ 6/1

Sam James rides this four-year-old course-and-distance scorer, for trainer Katie Scott, based in the Scottish Borders.

11 days ago here in a similar affair he was beaten just a head by Antony Brittain's Yaahobby, who re-opposes. Katie's Kodiac gelding is just a pound better off but if Sam can time this right with a late, late challenge on this smooth-traveller, Concert Boy can reverse the placings.

Nice little heat for the lucky last.

We're not on at huge prices, but I'm going each-way to help maximise our chances, hopefully.

If you're playing take care, have fun as always, and good luck.

This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!

The odds can fluctuate between publishing our pieces and race-time. As a guide, a £0.25p each-way Lucky 15 on today's selections, at the prices, and assuming all four won, would return around £277 for your total £7.50 stake.

Fred, 'The Bonus King,' invented the 'Lucky' series of bets and their bonuses. My colleague Adam has set out all you need to know with this handy guide - take a look by clicking here.
