Horse Racing Tips: Moores can fire Cannon to victory

The is both Flat and jumps racing on Sunday with four meetings taking place across the afternoon, going at Goodwood and Ffos Las in the UK and at Naas and Cork in Ireland. 

Amongst our Sunday fancies is last year's beaten favourite in the always popular jump jockeys race at Goodwood. 

13:50 Goodwood - Havaila @ 17/2

The jump jockeys race at Goodwood has surprisingly eluded the Moore stable so far, but they can rectify that this year with last year's fourth HAVAILA. 

This will be the five-year-old's fourth start for the Moore partnership, having been beaten six and a half lengths as favourite last year for Milton Harris. 

He was keen that day, when his run came after a break of 130 days, so the fact he was given an outing over an inadequate trip at Windsor 27 days ago can be seen as a positive. 

He has already confirmed his liking for this course and distance when beaten just a neck on his stable debut here in May on soft ground. 

That came off the same mark as today, which is 3lb lower than last year, and with the strong handling of Tom Cannon he can recoup last year's losses.

15:00 Goodwood - Spanish Star @ 8/1

Having won this race in 2021 and 2022 it wouldn't count as a surprise if Patrick Chamings' stalwart was to pop up, but with a recent absence to overcome and some in-form horses to take on SPANISH STAR could still represent value. 

He began this season in really good form, narrowly beaten and first home in his group in a Class 3 handicap at Newbury and not beaten far over course-and-distance behind Baldomero in early May. 

He's only had three runs since however, and lowly ones at that, which does mean he is now down to a reasonable mark once more and one he can cash in on. 

He has won three times off ratings higher than today's, and he has a swing of 12lb with Baldomero for a beating of two and a quarter lengths in that May race. 

With one win in 35 starts from July to September, compared to three wins from nine starts in October, it's fair to say this is his time of year and with Hollie Doyle doing the steering he can take this contest again.

16:45 Goodwood - Arkhalia Flynn @ 7/1

Jack Channon's ARKHALIA FLYNN can be confidently expected to turn the tables on his Epsom conqueror Marcella, and can notch his fourth victory of the season in conditions he relishes. 

The progressive three-year-old will be 6lb better off for being beaten two lengths when this pair met two weeks ago. That may not sound a lot but the selection did tremendously well to get as close as he did that day. 

He missed the break and was off the pace in rear whereas Oisin Murphy had Marcella in the perfect position near the front before bagging the favoured stands' rail in the straight. 

The way Arkhalia Flynn made late ground up the unfavoured centre of the track marked him down as one still well-handicapped, not surprising for one who only had one start before this season, and he can gain revenge today.
