Here are my Mould vs Walsh predictions ahead of this pivotal clash for both men.

Two domestic stalwarts jockey for position in this well-matched fight in Sheffield. 

Walsh has gone the furthest in his career. Now 38, the veteran is a former two-time British featherweight champion and has challenged for the European belt.

Mould has held the English strap and challenged for British honours. At the age of 29 and coming off a split decision defeat to Gary Cully, he will be the fighter who feels like he has the most to prove.

There are no titles on the line in this bout, but it would not look out of place with a belt on the line. This is a high-risk fight for both men as they look to climb the rankings on these shores. It is commendable that Walsh and Mould have chosen this path rather than taken the easier route.

Picking a victor here sort of comes down to what you like best. Do you fancy the battle-tested experience of Walsh, who has faced top fighters like Maxi Hughes, James Tennyson and Lee Selby in hard fights? Or perhaps you favour Mould due to his comparative freshness and the benefit of youth?

I think this will be hard-fought and truthfully could go either way. Beating Walsh would be a huge statement for Mould. But it’s a statement I think he might well make. 

For that reason I am backing the younger man to prevail, though I think he will have to go the long way round. I am tipping Mould to win on points at odds of 1/1.
