Reading vs huddersfield betting tips

The domestic season continues at full pace and theres a full slate in EFL League 1 on Saturday, including Reading vs Huddersfield Town at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.

We've asked our resident Terrier to preview this one and give us his Reading vs Huddersfield Predictions.

Reading vs Huddersfield Betting Tips

  • Over 3.5 Goals @ 7/4
  • Correct Score 2-2 @ 11/1

This match has turned into a battle between two sides in a bit of a crisis. That may sound a daft statement to any neutral onlookers, with Huddersfield Town sitting up in fifth in the League 1 table. However, they have had back-to-back dreadful losses at home and have lost five of their last six games in all competitions.

Pressure has started to mount on to new Town boss Michael Duff, who has lurched from a superb start in West Yorkshire, to a man who is looking for a working formation and who doesn't appear to know what his best starting XI is.

They have conceded five goals in the last 180 minutes in front of their home fans but perhaps a road trip will come in handy, as some of their best performances have been away from the John Smith's Stadium.

As for Reading, it's not just football issues that have left the club in crisis, with fans intending to hold a 'red-card' protest on Saturday lunchtime at current Chinese owner Dai Yongge's running of the club and the financial impropriety the club has been through in recent years, including record club losses and subsequent points deductions. The anger has heightened in recent weeks following the proposed takeover by Rob Couhig collapsed.

Head Coach Ruben Selles is trying his best to get the club performing in the third tier but you get the feeling that results are the last thing the average Royals fan is thinking about right now. Reading are currently sat in 17th spot in the league after two home wins from their six games.

Team news

Selles remains without injured first-choice goalkeeper Joel Pereira and defender Andy Yiadom but may still look to make changes here following their 5-2 battering away at Bolton Wanderers last week.

Meanwhile, Duff continues to have his own injury issues, with star defender Michal Helik hobbling off with a hamstring injury in Tuesday night's 2-0 loss to Blackpool and reportedly missing the next six to eight weeks. He will be boosted by the return of striker Danny Ward though, who has served his suspension.

Reading are the slight 2/1 outsiders to pick up their third victory at the Madejski on Saturday afternoon, giving the Royals an implied win probability of 33.3%, while Huddersfield are 11/8 favourites, or a 42% chance, to pick up the three points.

The draw is available at 12/5, both teams to score at 4/7, and over 2.5 total goals at 8/11.

Josh Koroma is the joint second highest scorer in the league and is the 15/8 favourite in the anytime scorer market.

Over 3.5 Goals @ 7/4

This game always seems to provide goals and I can't see this one being any different.

In their last six head-to-head matches, there has been 24 goals scored and each of the last three match-ups at the SCL Stadium have seen this line passed.

On top of all this, both teams are having a hard time keeping the opposition attack out. Reading conceded five away in East Lancs and Town saw Northampton (3) and Blackpool (2) easily take apart their defence.

Expect goals galore here, in what should be a low-quality but high-entertainment game.

Correct Score 2-2 @ 11/1

In a similar line of thinking to the last selection, I'm banking on a high-scoring draw, with both sides unable to prevent the opposition from netting.

Duff's side have been found out in recent weeks with opposing managers pressing high and then firing in diagonal balls behind the marauding wingbacks.

Meanwhile, Reading's defence looked all at sea against Bolton and I get the feeling both managers would be fairly happy with a stabilising draw and point apiece.
