Liverpool to win

No fewer than 11 points separate these two sides after just five matches and there looks to be a gulf in confidence going into Saturday’s clash.

Wolves have not played that badly, but find themselves bottom of the table, while in contrast Liverpool have won four of their opening five matches and thumped West Ham 5-1 in midweek in the EFL Cup.

The Reds have conceded just one goal in those opening five league games and have leaked just one goal in their last three matches against Wolves.

It’s a different story for Gary O’Neil’s backline, who have seen 13 goals hit the back of their net in matches against Arsenal, Chelsea, Nottingham Forest, Newcastle and Aston Villa.

Liverpool have beaten Wolves in their last three meetings and if Man City slip up at Newcastle earlier in the day, Arne Slot’s men can go top with a victory.

Anytime Goalscorer - Mohamed Salah (LIV)

It’s two Premier League games without a goal for Mohamed Salah and he was clearly frustrated that he couldn’t get his name on the scoresheet in the win over Bournemouth.

The Egyptian star will undoubtedly be targeting the Golden Boot in what could be his final season in a Liverpool shirt.

Two of Salah’s three league goals have come on the road this term - at Ipswich and Manchester United - and he will be desperate to get back to finding the net on Saturday.

The 32-year-old has scored five goals in the Reds’ last 15 meetings against Wolves, with the last of those coming in a 2-0 win at Anfield in 2023.

Player to be booked - Mario Lemina (WOL)

Wolves find themselves second in the Premier League yellow card stats, after picking up 17 cautions in their first five matches.

No fewer than six Wanderers players have been carded on more than one occasion and amongst that group is midfielder Mario Lemina.

The former Southampton man collected 10 yellow cards and one red last season and will have his hands full trying to deal with in-form Liverpool midfield duo Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch.

Over 2.5 Goals

The goals have been flowing when these two teams have been in action in recent weeks, with Wolves having conceded the joint most in the Premier League - along with Everton - with 14.

There have been three or more goals in each of Wanderers’ last three games in all competitions, which includes a 2-1 reverse against Newcastle in their last home game.

The Merseysiders have scored 11 times in their last three games, while their record on the road makes even more impressive reading.

The Reds have netted 10 times in their last four Premier League away games and there have been 11 goals in the last four meetings between these two sides.
