Rangers play their first Scottish Premiership fixture of the season at Ibrox after summer renovation work to the Copland rear stand overran, forcing a temporary move to Hampden. The Gers are back home and hope the return helps revitalise the team following a slow start to the season, winning three Premiership games, losing one, and drawing the spare.

The home team sit off the early pace set by Celtic and Aberdeen, knowing they must find the form and consistency needed to close the gap. A strong win over Hibs in Govan would be a step in the right direction.

Hibs started the weekend six places lower than their hosts in the table, with their 2024/25 league form showing one win, two draws, and a pair of defeats. The team from the capital has scored five goals but has already conceded eight, which has set alarm bells ringing at Easter Road. David Gray’s men lost their first two but arrive unbeaten in three, bagging a home win over St Johnstone last time out.

Rangers vs Hibs Odds

With a full house expected back at Ibrox on Sunday, there will be an amazing atmosphere inside the old stadium, with fans hoping to roar the team to a big win. Philippe Clement’s side brushed past Dundee at this venue in the League Cup last Saturday, easing to a 3-0 victory and place in the semi-finals of a competition they won late last year.

Despite that showing, Rangers suffered a heavy defeat across the city in the Old Firm derby before the international break. Sunday is their second outing of the week following Thursday’s stunning 2-0 away win over Malmo in the Europa League. The home win is a 4/11 favourite at Betfred.

Hibs finally got off the mark in the league with an impressive 2-0 home win over St Johnstone thanks to goals from Mykola Kuharevich and Martin Boyle. They also enjoyed a week off after being eliminated from the League Cup by Celtic at Parkhead in the second round.

The visitors will arrive with confidence following that result over the Saints and should be fully rested and ready for action. Will they score a rare win at Ibrox? Betfred traders offer Hibs at odds of 7/1, with the draw trading at 4/1.

Over 2.5 goals @ 4/9

Our first bet at Ibrox is on the game to produce three or more goals from both teams combined. Looking at the head-to-head stats associated with this fixture, we note backing over 2.5 goals would’ve landed you a profit in three of the four meetings between the rivals in the Premiership and Scottish Cup last season. The run includes a 4-0 victory for the Gers at this venue last October.

Rangers’ recent form shows they have scored three goals past Dundee and conceded three against Celtic already this month. They also took six off Ross County at Hampden and beat Motherwell 2-1 in August. Switching to Hibs' standout results, we notice they found the net at least once in games against St Johnstone, Kilmarnock, Dundee, and Celtic. The Hibees will play a part in another fascinating contest on Sunday.

Rangers vs Hibernian - Over 2.5 Goals Over

Rangers win and both score @ 8/5

Sticking with our prediction of a goal-fest in Glasgow, we’re backing Rangers to win and both teams to score at more attractive odds. Ranger beat Hibs 3-1 at this venue back in March in their previous meeting, with the goals scored by James Tavernier, Cyriel Dessers, Rabbi Motondo, and Myziane Maolida. We fancy more of the same in Sunday’s renewal.

The home defence is improving and impressed when keeping a clean sheet against both Dundee and Dundee United since losing the derby at Parkhead. But Sunday will be their second game of the week following Thursday’s trip to Sweden, and there’s likely to be a few tired legs in the home dressing room. This fixture will bring the best out of Hibs, and followers should get a run for their money.
