Aberdeen beat Dundee

We open proceedings at Dens Park, where high-flying Aberdeen aim to continue their impressive start to the season and keep pace with early leaders Celtic. The Dons enter the weekend joint top of the division following five wins in as many games, scoring ten goals and conceding just three.

They’re already five points ahead of third-place Rangers and booked their place in the semi-finals of the League Cup with a thumping 4-0 win over Spartans at Pittodrie last weekend.

While things have started well for Aberdeen, followers of Dundee haven’t had quite as much to cheer in the opening exchanges. The Dee start in seventh place after winning just one of their first five games, collecting six points from a possible 15.

The hosts suffered their first defeat last time out when losing 2-0 in Dingwall against Ross County and followed that with a 3-0 cup defeat at Ibrox in a game they never looked like winning. Stick with the form side here and back Aberdeen to win.

Dundee Utd beat Kilmarnock

We’re expecting mixed fortunes for the teams from the City of Discovery and back Dundee United to pile pressure on Kilmarnock at Rugby Park. Killie are second from the bottom of the league, with only Hearts beneath them in the pecking order.

It would be a huge surprise if either side was relegated come the final count, but Kilmarnock remain winless in five, drawing two and losing three while conceding a dozen goals.

A fragile home defence that’s low on confidence offers encouragement to a visiting Dundee United side. United sit in fourth thanks to two wins, two draws, and a defeat, scoring six goals and conceding four. Jim Goodwin’s team must be better in attack, but they have lost only to Rangers this season, and that was a narrow 1-0 reverse following an early.

Confidence is high in the away dressing room, and that will make the difference in what should be a competitive encounter.

Queens Park beat Dunfermline

We drop to the Scottish Championship for the third and final pick of our weekend away win acca. Queens Park carry our support at East End Park when taking on Dunfermline Athletic.

The visitors are already on the edges of the promotion playoff places and look capable of challenging for the prizes again this term. Their form shows an even split of two wins, two draws, and two defeats, scoring six and conceding seven. They arrive having claimed four of the last six points available.

The home team are three places lower in the Championship, with four fewer points than their opponents. Dunfermline have lost four of their opening six, and the four points gained means they’re above bottom club Airdrieonians on goal difference only. They lost 1-0 to Partick Thistle last weekend, and it’s worth backing The Spiders to pile on the pressure.
