Barnsley vs Stockport Prediction: Saturday night fever at Oakwell

We’ve got a thumping game on our hands at Oakwell this weekend as two play-off contenders meet. Third-placed Barnsley host seventh-placed Stockport County at the rather strange kick-off time of 19:45 on Saturday, with the game live on Sky Sports Main Event.
Having both made bright starts to the new campaign, they will look to strengthen their promotion claims with another three points here. Below you will find my Barnsley vs Stockport prediction, featuring team news and betting tips.
Team News
Fabio Jalo is a doubt after he came off the bench against Burton, but then had to leave the field with injury issues. Meanwhile Donovan Pines may also miss out if he fails to pass concussion tests, while Luca Connell could be a big miss as he also came off with an injury in a bruising encounter with the Brewers. Stephen Humphrys got the winner in that game in the 90th minute, so he could be rewarded with a start by Darrell Clarke.
Lewis Bate and Isaac Olaofe were brought on at half-time by Stockport as they were hammered 4-1 by Leyton Orient last time out, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see the duo come into the XI. Dave Challinor may ring the changes after a poor performance with Lewis Fiorini pushing to take Oli Norwood’s place in the centre of midfield.
Barnsley are priced at 5/4 to win this game, with Stockport available at 21/10. A draw can be backed at 5/2, over 2.5 goals is 4/6 and BTTS is 4/7.
Sam Cosgrove and Adam Phillips lead the way in the first goalscorer market, both priced at 5/1.
Draw and BTTS @ 16/5
These are simply two extremely good League 1 teams and I’m struggling to separate them. However, I think we can find value in this evenly-matched contest by backing this one to be a score draw.
There is plenty of attacking quality on both sides, with Louie Barry the star for Stockport and Barnsley possessing the likes of Sam Cosgrove. BTTS came in for both of these sides last weekend, and both teams have found the net in the last five Stockport matches in all competitions. As a result I think we will see more goals, but no winner at Oakwell on Saturday night.

Louie Barry to score anytime @ 11/5
The main man for Stockport continues to look a class above whatever level he is playing at. The step up to League 1 hasn’t been an issue for him at all and from the left, he is always looking to cut inside and score goals. Barry had that stint at Barcelona as a youngster, but is now an Aston Villa player.
However, he spent last year on loan at County, and after promotion they managed to secure another season-long loan deal. He’s already scored four goals in six matches in the third tier this term, and I’m happy to back him to add another to his tally in Yorkshire. The 21-year-old has got a big future ahead of him.
