Udinese vs inter milan predictions betting tips serie a saturday september 28 2024

An 89th-minute strike from AC Milan's Matteo Gabbia condemned Inter Milan to a 2-1 defeat in the Milan derby last weekend, their first loss to their city rivals since September 2022. The result also extended I Nerazzurri's winless run to three games in all competitions, a slump in form Simone Inzaghi's side will be desperate to address on Saturday (14:00) when they take on Udinese at the Bluenergy Stadium in Udine.

Read below for my Udinese vs Inter Milan prediction, complete with all the latest team news and match odds, ahead of the sixth round of the 2024/25 Serie A season.

Udinese vs Inter Milan Betting Tips

  • Both Teams to Score - Yes @ 5/6
  • Bet Builder - Davide Frattesi (INT) 2+ Shots, Federico Dimarco (INT) 2+ Shots, Sandi Lovric (UDI) 1+ Shots @ 11/5

Team News

Alexis Sanchez, who spent four of the past five seasons at Inter, returned to former side Udinese in the summer but injury has prevented him from making his second debut for the club and he will miss a reunion with I Nerazzurri this weekend.

Lautaro Giannetti was substituted at half-time of Udinese's 3-2 victory at Parma on September 16 and has been absent from their last two matches - a 3-0 defeat to AS Roma in Serie A last Sunday and a 3-1 Coppa Italia success against Salernitana on Wednesday - with a minor issue; the 30-year-old defender will hope to return on Saturday, while midfielder Martin Payero is touch-and-go after being withdrawn before the interval in midweek.

Football Odds

Inzaghi will be forced into making at least one change at the Bluenergy Stadium with midfielder Nicolo Barella injured; the Italy international could be replaced in the engine room by Davide Frattesi, while there may also be alterations in defence and attack with Carlos Augusto, Matteo Darmian and Mehdi Taremi all in contention to start.

Taremi will likely replace one of Marcus Thuram or Lautaro Martinez; the latter has yet to score for club or country this season and has just one goal in his last 15 Inter appearances.

Udinese have won three of their first five league games this season but are 11/2 to record a fourth on Saturday, giving I Bianconeri an implied win probability of 15.4%, considerably lower than their opponents (66.7%) who, as reigning Serie A champions, are priced at 1/2.

The draw is available at 16/5, both teams to score at 5/6, and over 2.5 total goals at 8/11.

Inter trio Martinez (5/4), Thuram and Taremi (both 6/4) lead the anytime goal scorer market, with Lorenzo Lucca and Brenner (both 7/2) shortest priced for the hosts.

Both Teams to Score - Yes @ 5/6

Inter kept nearly as many clean sheets (21) as they did goals conceded (22) in Serie A last season, so they're not usually a side to plump for in the 'Both Teams to Score - Yes' market.

However, they've already shipped five goals in as many games in the Italian top-flight this term, conceding a couple in a 2-2 draw at Genoa on the opening weekend, one in a 1-1 draw at Monza on September 15, and two more in last Sunday's 2-1 defeat to Milan.

Udinese, meanwhile, struck in their first four matches, netting seven in total, before blanking in a 3-0 defeat at Roma last weekend. However, they were back in the goals in midweek as they stuck three past Salernitana.

Saturday's hosts have won all four of their games at the Bluenergy Stadium this term, beating Avelino and Salernitana in the Coppa Italia either side of Serie A victories over Lazio (2-1) and Como (1-0).

Both teams to score has landed in four of their last six outings and seven of their previous nine at home in the league, while four of the past five meetings between Udinese and Inter - including the last three in Udine - have finished with at least one goal on either side, including Inter's 2-1 win there in April.

At just under EVS, BTTS - Yes looks like a good shout on Saturday with a downtrodden Inter heading to what has proven to be a tough venue for opposing sides so far.

Bet Builder - Davide Frattesi (INT) 2+ Shots, Federico Dimarco (INT) 2+ Shots, Sandi Lovric (UDI) 1+ Shots @ 11/5

For my second tip, I'm heading to the shots market and including three players in an 11/5 bet builder.

First up is Inter's Frattesi, who I'm backing to shoot at least twice on Saturday. The 25-year-old has only started once for his club side this season - the 1-1 draw at Monza earlier this month - but is in contention to play from the beginning in Udine after last weekend's defeat in the Milan derby.

Frattesi shot three times at Monza and has registered an attempt in substitute appearances against Genoa and Atalanta, while he scored a winner in the fifth minute of second-half added time - with the last of his four efforts off the bench - when Udinese and Inter met in April.

Meanwhile, his last season as a regular starter - for Sassuolo in 2022/23, when he started 35 times in Serie A - saw Frattesi average 1.8 shots per game, and he tried his luck on four occasions for Italy in a Uefa Nations League clash with France earlier this month before being withdrawn in the 62nd minute, showing that when he gets the chance, he's not afraid to let fly.

I'm also selecting his teammate, Federico Dimarco, to record at least two efforts. Dimarco scored Inter's only goal of the game in the Milan derby last Sunday and is another player who isn't shy to shoot, averaging 1.7 shots per game in the Italian top flight last season.

He's already on 2.8 per game this term and has recorded at least two in every league game except the 4-0 victory over Atalanta, where he managed just one.

Lastly, I'm picking Udinese midfielder Sandi Lovric to register one effort. The 26-year-old is averaging 0.8 shots per game this season having shot twice against Parma and once versus Lazio and Roma. The Slovenian averaged 1.5 shots per game in Serie A last term and tried his luck twice off the bench against Inter at San Siro before lasting just 20 minutes in the reverse fixture at the Bluenergy Stadium.
