Lucky 15 Tips: Buick can shine on Morrison star

Friday, September 27; and how's this for a card. Seven races, comprising three Group contests, two Listed, and a who's-who of the nation's leading jockeys.
So to Newmarket then for our Lucky 15 tips, and the outstanding action kicks in at 13:50. There's just enough juice in the likely prices to recommend an each-way play, so that's the way I'm leaning. What a way to usher in the weekend ...
Lucky 15 Tips, Friday
Newmarket
13:50 - Sirona @ 10/3
A Listed contest for members of the fairer sex, over a mile.
Sirona is a four-year-old filly who has been with trainer David Menuisier since May, having begun her racing career with the Johnstons. She's yet to win for new connections but has come mightily close, especially 26 days ago at Longchamp when denied by a neck in a similar Listed contest at the trip.
Oisin Murphy was on board then, and today it's Ryan Moore, who has ridden her once previously. Will Buick, Rossa Ryan and Frankie Dettori have all sat on her in the past, so it's fair to say she's very well regarded at home.
'Soft' featuring somewhere in the going description seems very likely, and she's handled it well before - a big plus. She's been pretty highly-tried since coming to West Sussex from North Yorkshire and this is a calmer assignment than several of those previous engagements. Big chance, under the peerless Moore.
14:25 - Mistral Star @ 4/1
My bet of the day at HQ.
I tipped this one up recently and she ran perfectly well in the prestigious Yorkshire Oaks without really landing a blow, finishing 5.5l behind winner Content on fast ground.
Mistral Star is another four-year-old filly, this time by the mighty Frankel, and is down to possibly a more suitable grade at Group 3 level.
Will Buick rides for East Ilsley trainer Hughie Morrison, and the champ is in fine fettle - operating at a 30% strike-rate over the last fortnight. The selection took a Listed heat here quite easily before York, and this could just be the right fit with no jar in the ground and plenty of time to get organised for a late challenge.
A fabulous race.
15:00 - Duty First @ 8/1
Two-year-old fillies now, and an old enduring partnership that's known plenty of success over the years.
Hollie Doyle rides Duty First for trainer Archie Watson, in the G1-winning Bradsell colours of Victorious Racing. The daughter of Showcasing has had three runs to date, the last being a fine second 34 days ago in a Goodwood G3.
Hollie looked to make all on the Downs and on the soft ground was reeled in late. She's a progressive filly and at least we know she handles cut. Perhaps with the extra experience and a further outing under her belt she can maintain the gallop more effectively at HQ, as this doesn't to me look a white-hot G2 at all.
The likely fav Formal steps up markedly after taking a maiden and a novice, and Aidan runs two, neither of which has set the world alight - yet. Hollie's mount represents a bit of value in my book and I'm really looking forward to watching this one.
15:35 - Prague @ 9/2
This four-year-old Galileo colt went into many a notebook 20 days ago when finishing like a train in a Haydock G3.
Prague came second on that occasion, beaten by a rapidly-diminishing half-length, in a career-best display. Twice he was interrupted when about to challenge, and it's not too fanciful to mark him down as an unlucky loser.
Danny Tudhope was on board last time, and renews the partnership this afternoon, for local trainer Dylan Cunha. He's got a couple of pounds to find on official figures in this G2 but he's in form, we know all about his finishing kick, and there should be no traffic issues in a scheduled field of six across Newmarket's vast acreage.
Another little belter of a race.
If you're playing take care, have fun as always, and good luck.
This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!
The odds can fluctuate between publishing our pieces and race-time. As a guide, a £0.25p each-way Lucky 15 on today's selections, at the prices, and assuming all four won, would return around £540 for your total £7.50 stake.
