Horse Racing Tips: Enthusiastic Enthused to strike on Sunday

National Hunt racing holds sway across Britain and Ireland on Sunday with three meetings taking place in the afternoon. First off is a good card at the Listowel Harvest Festival before they go at Hamilton Park and Plumpton.

Among our horse racing tips for Sunday is one for red-hot trainer James Owen that went close on the Flat last week and must hold every chance back over hurdles at Plumpton.

15:00 Listowel - Stormalong @ 10/1

Likely market leader Straight Home was heavily supported on her first start for Willie Mullins when last seen at Tramore, but she was no match for STORMALONG in the race and the Kenneth Budds runner can uphold that form in the 2m2f mares' handicap hurdle.

She has a 7lb rise in the weights to contend with, but she travelled notably well that day and forged clear once she hit the front in the manner of a horse who is well ahead of the assessor.

Stormalong has had a spin on the Flat since. Sent off at 28/1 for a 1m6f Gowran maiden this month, she was very slow away but finished off her race very well to come home an eye-catching third. She remains in form.

15:42 Hamilton Park - Iris Dancer @ 7/1

The 6f fillies' handicap is a competitive contest but the winner of this race in 2022 and 2023, six-time course and distance winner IRIS DANCER can get her head back in front for trainer Tristan Davidson.

As her track form figures which read 4222254145142218532111735 will tell, this Kodiac mare is a course specialist but she last won at Carlisle in July off a mark of 68, the same mark she is back running off today.

However, she is effectively 4lb lower here if you take rider's claims into account, and she was beaten less than two lengths into fifth at this track earlier in the month from 1lb higher. She goes on any ground and it will be no surprise to see her win here again.

15:50 Plumpton - Enthused @ 6/1

Dual-purpose trainer James Owen has had a brilliant time of things the last few months. Based in Newmarket, he trained 38 winners over jumps last season and has gone into double-digits for the current season already, while he has trained 40 winners on the Flat this year too.

Owen has sent out two winners from eight runners at Plumpton, and ENTHUSED, narrowly denied when third at Lingfield on the Flat last week, must have outstanding claims in the 2m handicap hurdle.

The son of Zoffany finished a close fifth in a better race than this over the same trip at Perth last month. He is now 1lb lower and that result followed an impressive win in a 2m Uttoxeter handicap hurdle in July.

Enthused needs quick ground to be seen to best effect and as things stand he will have that. He will surely go well in the hands of 5lb claimer Alex Chadwick.
