Millions tuned into the live TV debate between US presidential candidates Kamala Harris and Donald Trump on Tuesday night, which has had a significant impact on the Next US President Odds.

Our man Peter Spencer is on-hand with the latest.

Next US President Odds

  • Kamala Harris @ 5/6
  • Donald Trump @ 1/1

The overwhelming opinion today is that Democrat Kamala Harris won last night's 90-minute debate on ABC News.

Following the much-anticipated showdown, the highly-influential CNN Poll had Harris winning by 63% to Republican Donald Trump's 37%.

Other outlets had it different - mainly depending on their left or right-wing views - but the Betfred markets have moved in Harris’ favour.

Before the broadcast, Trump was priced at 5/6 and Harris at 1/1, but as the analysis on what was and wasn't said continues, the prices have flipped the other way with Harris now the 5/6 favourite and Trump out to 1/1 to be the next president.

A Betfred spokesperson said: "The race is basically a dead-heat and has been for a few weeks now.

"Harris has a slight edge at present, but there is a feeling that the polls can underestimate Trump’s support a little.

"While Harris is slightly ahead in the polls, it should be noted that two other Democrats - namely President Biden and Hilary Clinton - were polling much further ahead of Trump than Harris is at this stage in 2020 and 2016.

"The positive for the Democrats is that Biden was looking doomed until he stepped aside, but the Harris/Tim Walz ticket has rejuvenated things in their favour.

"The race is likely to come down to seven key battleground states – Arizona, Nevada, Georgia, North Carolina, Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.

"Pennsylvania could be key to the entire election - and it's a virtual tie  in that state."

The endorsement of Harris by arguably the biggest celebrity in the world right now, Taylor Swift, has also boosted the former's chances of getting the keys to the White House.

In a statement posted on her Instagram page, the 34-year-old pop star said she felt the need to voice her opinion after an AI clip of her endorsing Trump's presidential run was allegedly used on the former president's site.

Swift wrote: "I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. I'm voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and cause I believe need a warrior to champion them."

The US election is set for Tuesday, November 5.
