Horse Racing Tips: American Fashion to dazzle on Tuesday

Flat racing dominates proceedings on Tuesday, with all five scheduled meetings in the UK and Ireland taking place on the level. First off is Kempton, which is swiftly followed by Brighton, whilst Nottingham, Roscommon and Wolverhampton provide the evening action.
We have three horse racing tips across the day and among them is one for in-form trainer Sir Mark Prescott who is bidding to extend the trainer’s unbeaten record at the track in 2024.
Horse Racing Tips - Tuesday, August 20
17:15 Kempton - American Fashion @ 15/8
John & Thady Gosden’s runner could be one to watch in this race as AMERICAN FASHION looks very interesting on handicap debut.
This daughter of Starspangledbanner had struggled a little in two starts over 7f and that trip appears to stretch her stamina. It was a very different story when dropped to 6f at Lingfield when last seen and she showed significant improvement to finish second.
The handicapper has allotted her an opening mark of 69 which looks very workable and it’ll be a surprise if she doesn’t end up being a good deal better than that. One would imagine she wouldn’t need to find a huge amount of improvement to come out on top here but she’s definitely entitled to find plenty nonetheless.
19:00 Wolverhampton - Chesneys Charm @ 7/2
Another handicap debutant, CHESNEYS CHARM could be the one to side with in Wolverhampton’s fascinating 7f nursery. Michael Bell’s two-year-old got off the mark in a Chelmsford maiden when last seen and starts his handicap career on a mark of 73 here.
Both runs over this trip have been more than adequate and his only disappointing effort thus far came over 6f at Nottingham in June. Fourth on debut at Leicester, he overcame a slow start and the winner left a good impression that day.
It was obvious that he would improve for the run as he looked very green coming into the final furlong and shaped as if needing the run physically too. The son of Mohaather improved to score by a length at Chelmsford and there was lots to like about the performance.
An opening mark of 73 doesn’t look unmanageable and further progress shouldn’t be ruled out. Rossa Ryan is having another fine campaign and it’s therefore a positive that he has been booked for the ride.
19:40 Nottingham - Overture @ 1/1
Sir Mark Prescott’s OVERTURE remains unexposed in handicap company, having had just three starts in this sphere. She showed some promise when seventh on debut at Lingfield in October and kept on at the finish despite never really being put in the race.
Her next couple of starts were a little disappointing with that in mind, as was her handicap debut at Kempton. The daughter of New Approach improved after that to finish third at Chepstow over 7f even though the trip was a little on the short side.
Getting off the mark when upped to 1m2f at Yarmouth last time out, she still looked a little green at times but kept on well to score by a length-and-a-half in the end. A 4lb rise seems pretty fair and there should be loads more improvement to come.
Sir Mark Prescott has been in good form in the last fortnight, with five winners from just 15 runners and more success could well be on the cards here. It’s also important to note that he has had two winners from just two runners at Nottingham in 2024 and he’ll be hoping the unbeaten run continues.
