Wembley action shot 1 scaled

Blimey this has come around quickly hasn’t it? The Community Shield returns on Saturday afternoon as once again, Manchester City face Manchester United at Wembley. In a repeat of the FA Cup final that United won, now we will see Pep Guardiola take on Erik ten Hag once again.

This time the stakes aren’t quite as high, but there will be plenty of eyes on the traditional curtain-raiser. Below you can find my Man City vs Man Utd Bet Builder Tips.

Man City to win

I believe that the defeat in the FA Cup final was a one-off and although United deserved the victory and played very well that day, I think City will come back with a win this time. They are the current Premier League holders, and boast a huge array of talent that should be able to beat United this time around, plus Guardiola will want his players to prove a point.

A defeat here for the Citizens would raise eyebrows, even though it is bottom of their priority list this season. City are streets ahead of Manchester United right now, and it will be intriguing to see how the decision to stick with Erik ten Hag pans out. He certainly has a lot to prove, and with a few new arrivals and better injury luck, will hope to silence his critics.

I think it will be a close game, but ultimately the Citizens will get their season off to a winning start here.

Erling Haaland and Oscar Bobb to score

With Erling Haaland having had the summer off, it feels as though he could have a quick-fire start to the season. As several other players in the Premier League were toiling away at the Euros or Copa America, he had his feet up, and perhaps that is just what he needed. Some time away from the sport to properly recuperate could see Haaland return to the sort of goalscoring numbers we saw in his first season in England.

I’m backing him to get off to a flyer in the Community Shield as City look to win their fifth Premier League title in a row. My other goalscoring selection is youngster Oscar Bobb. He’s been knocking on the door of the first team for a while now, but it feels like this could be his breakout year.

He’s featured in pre-season and is set to start this game, as Guardiola puts faith in Haaland’s international teammate. A tricky winger, I think his energy could break United down, while I also believe we are getting good value on him to find the net at some point.

Over 1100 total passes

Whenever Man City are involved, we see a lot of passes. Simple as that. I think this game will follow the same blueprint as the FA Cup final, with United sitting back and compact in their defensive shape. City should dominate the ball and their defenders in particular will have the chance to string plenty of passes together. Guardiola will want them to be more incisive going forward, but both teams should take the total passes above 1100.
