Glorious Goodwood concludes on Saturday with a seven-race card that runs from 13:50-17:20.

So, for the final time this week, here's my Glorious Goodwood Day 5 tips.

Glorious Goodwood Day 5 Tips

  • 13:50 - Phantom Flight @ 3/1
  • 16:10 - Ballymount Boy @ 8/1
  • 16:45 - Angelo Buonarroti @ 11/8

13:50 - Phantom Flight @ 3/1

Saturday's card begins with the Glorious Stakes - a Group 3 over 1m4f for horses aged four and above. It's only attracted five runners, but as per the Horse Racing Odds at time of publication it rates a highly-competitive heat.

Tactics could be key in this small field. Aimeric, Al Aasy and Relentless Voyager are usually ridden with restraint, which could allow for George Scott's PHANTOM FLIGHT to dictate from the front.

The five-year-old son of Siyouni, who posted a career-best performance when beating the reopposing Al Aasy and three other useful rivals in a Listed affair at Newbury last month on his first run for the yard following a 343-day break, enjoys racing prominently and if Callum Shepherd gets his timings right, he could be difficult to peg back.

Today's Horse Races

16:10 - Ballymount Boy @ 8/1

The selection for this three-year-old handicap over seven furlongs is BALLYMOUNT BOY.

Adrian Keatley's Camacho colt was a very useful juvenile, with his form reading 212281. That includes victory in a Listed contest and two near-misses at Group level - including when just a length behind the classy Vandeek in the G2 Richmond Stakes at this very meeting.

The one blot on his copybook came over seven furlongs in a Group 1 at Longchamp won by now superstar miler Rosallion, but that can be forgiven as he was too keen to do himself justice and not all horses take traveling very well.

Speaking of, regular pilot James Doyle told the stewards at Newbury his mount was never traveling on his reappearance in the G3 Greenham Stakes back in April when he finished dead last of 11 - but he bounced back to something like when sixth in the G3 Chipchase Stakes at Newcastle exactly 70 days later.

That was a fine effort given he was slow out of the gates and left with plenty to do a furlong out. The ground he made up late on behind the likes of Kinross (rated 116) and Spycatcher (111) certainly caught the eye.

With that run under his belt, tried in handicap company for the first time off a mark of 102, back over seven furlongs, he can make a bold bid.

16:45 - Angelo Buonarroti @ 11/8

My final fancy of the day - and of the entire meeting - is ANGELO BUONARROTI in this seven-furlong maiden.

He fetched £1m at a breeze-up in May and was put into training with Dominic Ffrench Davis, but he was soon switched to Lambourn-based Raphael Freire, who rather ambitiously handed the Justify colt his debut in the G2 Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot in June.

Under the circumstances, I thought he ran a blinder to finish a staying-on ninth, just three lengths behind the winner. Clearly he's blessed with plenty of ability.

Now in the care of Ralph Beckett, he drops back to maiden company and ought to be very tough to beat with improvement expected. He's NAP material.
