Horse Racing Tips: Emily to land another Group 1

It is a Flat-dominated day to start August, with all British meetings being on the level and Galway's card mixing and matching the jumps action.
First off is the feature card at Goodwood, the focus of the horse racing tips in this article. There is also afternoon action from Nottingham and Galway, followed by evening cards at Wolverhampton and Epsom.
Horse Racing Tips - Thursday, August 1
15:00 Goodwood - Sayedaty Sadaty @ 9/2
Jamie Spencer is famed for his skill on hold-up horses, but he is often underrated on front runners. He could get an uncontested lead on SAYEDATY SADATY here and land the Gordon Stakes.
This horse has always appealed as one well regarded by his former trainer Andrew Balding. He was pitched into the Derby having won only once from seven previous starts, yet he ran with credit to finish fifth behind City Of Troy.
That was his second good run at Epsom, so for all Sayedaty Sadaty is not the most straightforward, he can clearly handle unconventional tracks. That is an advantage at Goodwood.
Although Sayedaty Sadaty has moved to David Simcock, that is likely related to his purchase by Australian owners. He will continue his career Down Under after this, but before that he can land this long-standing St Leger trial.

15:35 Goodwood - Emily Upjohn @ 5/2
The market for the Nassau is dominated by three-year-old fillies, like Opera Singer, Sparkling Plenty and Elmalka.
There is a doubt over whether that division is much cop, aside from Porta Fortuna. On top of that, rarely these days on stepping into open-age company will the young horses have to face an open-age champion like EMILY UPJOHN.
It is surprising to note that Emily Upjohn has only won two Group 1s. That is partly because she has been lightly raced overall, with just 12 runs. She has also been second at the top level three times, including last year's Eclipse and the Pretty Polly last time.
Emily Upjohn shaped best in the Pretty Polly. Bluestocking caught her on the line after Emily Upjohn looked to have made a decisive move entering the final furlong. Bluestocking was second in the King George on Saturday, so Emily Upjohn's form is clearly strong.
16:45 Goodwood - Shagraan @ 5/1
Sprint handicaps for three-year-olds are still proving strong form, as these horses are strengthening up and finding their ideal conditions. The latter point is particularly important to SHAGRAAN's claims here.
This horse has some really strong form behind him. He was second in a good-looking early-season race at Sandown, then third over 6f at Newmarket in a race that looks an excellent formline.
He was also fifth in the Holyrood House at Royal Ascot, having shown plenty of speed. The only blot on his season was a run at Windsor last time, when he was 5-4 favourite.
That was again over 6f, though, and such is Shagraan's pace that he is well worth a go at the minimum trip of 5f. On previous attempts at this distance he has raced at tracks with stiff, uphill finishes whereas Goodwood is all about speed. It could be the perfect scenario for him to get his head in front.
