Glorious Goodwood Day 2 Tips: Hat-trick seeker is Wednesday’s NAP

It was a joyless start to Glorious Goodwood, but we did enjoy a 13/2 winner at Galway so fingers crossed for a fruitful Wednesday in Sussex.
The so-named Sussex Stakes is the highlight of the seven-race card - which runs from 13:50-17:20 - and one of my Glorious Goodwood Day 3 tips is fancied for it.
Glorious Goodwood Day 2 Tips
13:50 - Subsequent @ 7/2
Wednesday begins with a 0-105 handicap over 1m4f which can go the way of the hat-trick seeking SUBSEQUENT.
Andrew Balding's three-year-old has done nothing but improve since a lacklustre debut at Southwell back in April, finishing a narrow second at Salisbury before back-to-back victories at Haydock and Salisbury again when tried over middle distances.
His latest success off a mark of 84 was full of promise. After a slow break, he stuck to the job nicely and ultimately beat the then 80-rated Spaceport somewhat snugly. Given that rival now boasts a mark of 94, that is strong form.
A rise of seven pounds doesn't concern me given the level this hat-trick seeker has already shown and the fact he appears to be on a steep upwards curve.
Back under the fantastic Oisin Murphy, he's NAP material in my book.
15:00 - Soldier's Heart @ 9/1
Next on my agenda is the Molecomb Stakes - a Group 3 over five furlongs for juveniles.
Aesterius sets a fair standard but ultimately I don't rate this as a strong renewal and so I'm going to chance SOLDIER'S HEART to step up to the plate.
The Havana Grey colt is a full-brother to Elite Status who fetched 425,000gns back in October and he has made a very promising start to his career.
Runner-up to the now 107-rated Al Qudra on his debut over six furlongs in early June, he then got off the mark emphatically, albeit in a modest affair, over course and distance a few weeks later.
That experience should stand him in good stead, he looks full of potential and the form of the Crisfords (29% strike rate in the last 14 days) is another major positive.
This is an Extra Place Race, with four available instead of three, so I wouldn't put anyone off an each-way play at the quoted price - but I'm going for the straight win.
Betfred are offering your stake back (up to £10) as a free bet if your selection for the 15:00 race finishes 2nd.
15:35 - Henry Longfellow @ 6/4
The big race of the day is the Sussex Stakes, but it's unfortunately lost a significant part of its appeal after the withdrawal of Irish 2000 Guineas and St James's Palace hero Rosallion.
Still, it sees the English Guineas winner in Notable Speech and Aidan O'Brien's HENRY LONGFELLOW renew rivalries from Royal Ascot.
The latter was well ahead of Charlie Appleby's Dubawi colt in Berkshire and I see no reason why that form should be reversed.
On what you could consider his first proper run of the campaign, given the French 2000 Guineas was a total non-event for him, the selection was only a neck behind Rosallion and over five lengths in front of his reopposing rival.
There's plenty of confidence behind the son of Dubawi who is still lightly-raced and therefore open to significant improvement. I fancy him strongly.
