The redoubtable Mr McMahon is lazing on a beach somewhere for the foreseeable dreaming of Nicky Henderson novices and fancy ante-post vouchers, so it's my pleasure to stand in for the majority of the next several days. Also drowning his Euro '24 sorrows I'll wager, rather like the rest of us. A thoroughly decent effort, but really for a month or so it was Spain first, the rest at a respectable distance behind.

For Tuesday's Nap Of The Day I'm journeying to Kempton Park, a track I've visited just the once many summers ago when the racegoers I recall included a certain Jimmy Tarbuck, comedian and racing fan. Cue jokes about today's tip being no laughing matter, etc. I'll try to resist ...

19:30 Kempton - Media Shooter @ 5/1

This 6f Class 4 heat is a qualifier for the London Sprint series, and has attracted what looks like a competitive and certainly very interesting field (19:30 Kempton odds).

The selection is trained up on Middleham Moor in North Yorkshire by the outstanding Karl Burke, and stable jock Cliff Lee is in the plate.

MEDIA SHOOTER is a three-year-old gelded son of multiple Group 1-winning sprinter Advertise. He's won three races all told, the last of which was at this very track in March in a similar affair off a mark of 81.

He lines up off just 82 on Tuesday and on his last run a month ago ran a blinder at York, unlucky in the run, in a £52k Class 2. He was beaten 4l in a field of 17, and the winner has since secured a Listed success in France.

Imperial Guard, just behind the selection on the Knavesmire, ran second in another £50k cracker at HQ last week and the form has a very solid look about it indeed.

The Burke yard are rarely away from the winner's circle and they're operating at a 22% strike-rate over the past fortnight. Media Shooter has appeared three times at Kempton, winning twice and finishing a 1.25l second on the other occasion.

It's not hard to think that the stars are aligning quite persuasively for this one, and I'm extremely hopeful about Media Shooter's chances. Being drawn in the four box isn't the worst spot in the world either.
